Yes, if you see both on the same screen. But then of course you can
compare the two entirely in software; the fingerprint is pointless.

The use case is not when a certificate changed, but when you get a new
certificate and want to check, via another channel, manually (e.g.
voice), whether you got the right one.

There never are two lines aligned. There's A and B talking over the phone.
