Thu, May 31 Induct Dalit MLA into cabinet:PMK By Chennai Online Wednesday May 30, 07:19 PM Puducherry, May 21: PMK MP from Puducherry M Ramadoss today urged AICC leader and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to direct Chief Minister N Rangasamy to expand his cabinet so as to restore its strength to six. In his letter to Gandhi, Ramadoss said that when the ministry came into existence in May 2006, there were six members in the cabinet. It became a five-member ministry following the resignation of P Angalane. Ramadoss said normally a cabinet in Puducherry would have a Dalit representative. Hence Rangasamy ministry should induct an MLA from the Dalit community. This would enable the government to enjoy the faith and confidence of the Dalits who constituted 18 per cent of the total population of Union Territory. He said it was also a constitutional responsibility of the chief minister. (Agencies)
