Entrust anganwadi centres to SC/STs: panel member

 Kadapa, June 28: Maintenance of anganwadi centres in habitations of
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should be entrusted to SC/STs,
State SC/ST Commission member A. Srinivasulu said on Wednesday.

Mr. Srinivasulu discussed with Collector M.T. Krishna Babu the
implementation of programmes meant for SCs and STs in the State. When
he said 15 per cent of fair price shop dealerships should be given to
SC/STs, the Collector said they were allotted more dealerships than
the stipulated quota.
Third in State

Kadapa was placed third in the State in implementation of National
Food For Work Programme, Mr. Krishna Babu said and its implementation
was satisfactory in 95 per cent of mandals.

Progress was tardy in Rayachoti, Lakkireddipalle, Porumamilla, etc.,
where an MPDO was suspended in addition to some field assistants and
half-a-dozen post-masters, the Collector explained.

Kin of some 50 SC/ST farmers, who committed suicide in Kadapa
district, were given Rs. 1.50 lakhs under the Government's relief and
rehabilitation package and their children admitted to residential
schools, the Collector said.
Mass house-warming

A.P. Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was beneficial to SC/ST
families. Mass house-warming programme was organised to save costs to
housing beneficiaries, he said.
