A proposal to name these awards given by the government was passed during a meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati. The small industrialist state award scheme will be renamed as Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Small Industrialist State Award scheme. Similarly, state award given to special craftsman will be remaned as Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Special Craftsman state award scheme. Export award has been named after BSP founder Kanshiram. "These prominent personalities had made an important contribution to upliftment of the country and the society. The decision taken by the cabinet will not only enhance the prestige of the awards but also the persons getting them will feel proud," a government spokesman said.
