While condemning the perpetrators of terrorist
explosions and other similar crimes, I assail with
equal force the fast growing tendency that it is only
Muslims and Muslim groups behind them. Regrettably,
every terrorist activity is immediately followed by a
statement that the hand of 'Lashkare-Toiba' is
suspected, and Muslims start feeling guilty as if it
is they who have to take the blame and will have to bear any
possible backlash. If Muslim groups remain silent,
there is an outcry as to why they are not speaking
against these occurrences in the same manner as they
spoke against their Prophet's cartoons. These
statements are based on the presumption that it is
Muslims and Muslims only who are indulging in such
activities. Why to have such a perverted thinking?

After every such gory incident, Police
immediately guns down a few Muslim youths and a strong
press release follows that they were involved in many
other terrorist acts and huge amount of explosives
were recovered from their person. In almost every such
encounter, the later enquiries have revealed that the
victims were innocent.

The same pattern is following Varansi serial
blasts. Three innocent Muslims have been killed , and
still it is not established as to who and which group
is really responsible for these terrorist explosions.

Terrorism has be curtailed at all costs, and the
nation and the government must make a ruthless
campaign against this menace and show no mercy to its
perpeterators, but the Muslim-bashing tendency must be
dispensed with otherwise it will further alienate the
community from the national mainstream.
