Dear Ms (am also assuming) Basu,
My apologies for putting you off guard. I thought it appropriate to address you back-channel rather than to offer what might be an effort to seek clarification and/or constructive criticism but criticism, nonetheless, thereby avoiding any embarassment in a public forum. My picayune side got the better of me. I didn't hink the issue was significant enough to involve the rest of the mailing list in this minor endeavour. Obviously, you do and have every right to do as you please.
From your reply to my comments I believe you did find Ravi's comparison of his "soulful lines to somthing (sic) like 2 minuites (sic) noodles and tandoori...pretentious" after all; as such, your comment, "and your interpretation was highly pretensious" was somehwat of a non sequitor to your comment, "I liked hindi (sic) poem." That is what confused me. I trust you'll forgive me my confusion?
I've contributed some poems and comments to Zest almost since its inception but not for quite a while. I dare say I have petensions of being a poet but I'll leave that for others to judge by what I've written. I'm not surprised you haven't heard of me before. This is a big pond and I'm but a small fish in it. Some of the other big fish in here may have seen some of my contributions (some even negative) and may be able to share their observations with you, if they care to do so and you are interested.
Finally, as to your charming comment, "Am sorry about the spelling mistake but cant (sic) promise to never do it again," I cannot but quote Alexander Pope, "To err is human, to forgive divine." I need a lot of forgiveness!
Best regards and warm wishes,
Mani

Dear Mr (am assuming) Suri
I am quite taken aback by your mail.
First coz i have never heard of you, r u a delhi
blogger or a zest poet. Whichever it is, i find it
interesting that you have been quietly reading all the
mails on the mailing list and never respond, or
putting it in better terms, never added your expert
comments to any of the mails. and now suddenly you
reacted to the present one by a personal mail instead
of posting it on the mailing list.
I am sure you have your own reasons for doing that and
would like to know the reasons.
I can't remember when did I criticize Ravi's poem or
translation. I highly admire his work or whatever he
prefers to call it.
What I actually meant was that I liked the hindi poem
he (Ravi) wrote on that day's mailing list but the way
he compared the meaningful and soulful lines to
somthing like 2 minuites noodles and tandoori was
pretentious. I believe he did it only to be witty but
in hearts of heart he sure understands the depth of
the lines...at least that's what i am assuming...i
mean i cant possibly know what exactly he thinks...
Am sorry that am putting this reply on the mailing
list of zestpoets but i have my reasons
a)coz i'd like to keep the community spirit alive and
b) so that Ravi is aware of this conversation.
Nice meeting you Mr.Suri
thanks
Sanjukta
P.S. Am sorry about the spelling mistake but cant
promise to never do it again.
