By the way, "a rose is a rose is a rose" is not Jansma's own line, but a famous quote from a Gertrude Stein poem (1920s?), the use of minimalist repetition being a standard Stein strategy. Sort of a modernist landmark, let's say. In this poem and in others translated on the site, Jansma has taken that line and improvised out of it a more mathematical poetics.
