never eclipsed or cloud clapped
Dogs rockets and satellites
Never did touch it

So much for the beautiful moon!
For ages and ages
She consoled us,
With the glamor of her light.
Lovers swooned; were brought to life.
And poetry flowed in the silver night.
Then man slapped her on the face,
And landed with an ugly thud.
Reduced her to a piece of rotten cud!
Crushed all romance brutally in bud.
"Pockmarked and Ugly"_
Dancers forgot their medley,
Lovers to sigh sadly,
Love has fared rather badly,
"Oh no longer Lovely"_
One by one, men are putting out the lights,
The earth gets brighter every night...
How I fear for the stars!
