My dear,
You talked of flying the other day,
Like free birds, flapping happy wings
But did you hear the sky rumble then
Watching in pain as caged birds tore
Their throats begging for freedom?
You talked of making love on beach sands
And took my hand in yours and squeezed it.
Anticipation rose high but did you hear
The pensive sea murmur as the tides
Ebbed and flowed away into silent crevices?
You promised to be by my side always
And uttered such words as "made for each other",
"Made in heaven", "my heart beats for you",etc.
But did you ever attempt to hear my painful song
Or even observe how I withdrew silently and shrank away?
I am not in a mood for love, dear. Not at least
When all the world about me is topsy-turvy,
When voice is caged, songs lie silent, unsung,
Unheard in cracked fissures of the heart
And desires are being tossed up like tidesÂ…
