[zfs-code] What's faster - Hardware RAID5 or using raw SCSI with RAIDZ?

I've got a DELL 2950 with a 3Gps controller.  I'm wondering if hardware RAID5 
is faster access than if I just turn off RAID on the controller and access the 
drives via raw SCSI and use OpenSolaris with RAIDZ?  Any ideas?
