Hi,
There's a thread over on storage-discuss about ZIL performance on SSD (slog) and
I wondered if someone could answer the question of whether slog writes are
primarily sequential or random. My thinking was that since it was a log, and
since it has dedicated devices, the writes would be sequential.

At issue are some disappointing numbers for a raidz pool of 6 SAS spindles with
a log on a mirror of two Mtron MOBI 3035 SSDs. We see very poor write IOPS on
the log devices, counter to our expectations. We've since discovered that these
particular devices are only spec'ed at 60 write IOPS for 4k random writes. That
was a nasty surprise to say the least.

Thanks,
Eric
