Something I was wondering about myself. What does the raidz toplevel (pseudo?) device do? Does it just indicate to the SPA, or whatever module is responsible, to additionally generate parity? The thing I'd like to know is if variable block sizes, dynamic striping et al still applies to a single RAIDZ device, too.
