I will go with a mirror. You need at least 500GB in parity anyway (since you want to survive any disk failure). That means the maximum you can get out of this setup is 800GB. With a mirror, you get 650GB (loss of 150GB) but you gain flexibility and performance (depending on what you do). -- Just me, Wire ...
