Thanks Mark. I ran the script and found references in the output to 'aclmode' and 'aclinherit'. I had in the back of my mind that I've had to mess on with ZFS ACL's in the past, aside from using chmod with the usual numeric values. That's given me something to go on. I'll post to cifs-discuss if I don't get anywhere.
