Position: DataWarehouse/BI Architect Duration: 6 Months Location: Austin TX Rate: ALAP JOB DESCRIPTION: The D/W BI Application Architect is responsible for coordinating the design, build, and deployment of the presentation layer components of the data warehouse solution. This layer provides the user interface to the data warehouses and data marts. As the interface is highly visible to the enterprise, a person in this role must work closely with the D/W Data Architects and the business end-users to gain a full understanding of their requirements. The D/W BI Application Architect designs and builds the application, working with the Data Architect/Analyst and customer representatives to make sure the application is satisfying business priorities. In most cases, the developer works with front-end Business Intelligence tools, such as Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Performance Point and others. To be most effective, the D/W BI Application Architect should be familiar with metadata concepts and the Data Warehouse/Data Mart data model. The D/W BI Application Architect works with the D/W Database Administrator and System Administrators in defining the front room technical architecture. The D/W BI Application Architect is responsible for coordinating planning activities for the application development team and ensuring work is completed as scheduled. Responsibilities: Collaborates with D/W Data Architects, end-users and other stakeholders to define detailed requirements Designs business intelligence solutions that meet user requirements for accessing and analyzing data Works with front-end business intelligence tools to design the reporting environment Works with the D/W DBA and D/W Data Architect to optimize reporting performance Develops supporting documentation for the application Coordinates the metadata associated with the application and data stores Participates in the full testing cycle Effectively communicates with other DW CoE team members Performs project leadership, detail requirements analysis, ad-hoc reporting, and user support Qualifications/Certifications: Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills Works independently with minimal supervision Must be able to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with business and system owners to obtain requirements and manage expectations Strong business analysis, problem solving, data validation, and project management skills are essential Capable of expressing technical concepts in business terms Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Solid understanding of metadata concepts and the Data Warehouse/Data Mart model Aptitude with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 business intelligence tools (e.g. Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SharePoint, and Performance Point) Strong Data Warehouse experience and SQL expertise are essential Experience with an agile based software development methodology desired Thanks & Regards, Sophia Jones Technical Recruiter Data Group, Inc.
