Appreciate the responses, folks. Very helpful! As for my request of a "spoilers" feature, hopefully it's alright to discuss it here.
If you go to many many pages on Wikipedia.org, for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_empire , they will often have a list of contents towards the top of the page. You can click a hide button that will hide this list of links, and then it becomes a show button which you can click if you'd like to see the list again.
