Suppose for an example that I was taken hostage by a terrorist who put a gun to my head and told me to drive my car into a crowd of Jews. Does the gun at my head mean that I am not free to choose? Of course not. I can choose to disobey the terrorist and have my head blown off. In this situation that would be the right choice. See? I really am free.
I think a distinction needs to be made between freedom in an absolute sense and political freedom or economic freedom. In an absolute sense any man born into this Second Estate truly is free. He won his freedom by choosing the right in the War in Heaven and keeping his First Estate.
Or at least that is my understanding today.
