Without digging into my scriptures for the exact quotes, consider the actions of the sons of Mosiah going to serve and live among the Lamanites in a spirit of love and sacrifice. Talk about cognitive dissidence. Do you think their friends, both the ones they had when they were apostate and the ones they gained when they repented, understood them? Everyone was used to fixing the Lamanite problem with war and these boys had a better idea. I think the current Church leadership has a better idea too.
