I've just ordered an intel NIC (hopefully it plays happy). Once update 4 comes out, I'll see what I can figure out. The IP NAT in question is not Solaris; it's Cisco, and it works 100% fine in my tests (verified by others who know more about cisco kit than I). It will be interesting to see whether IP instances do fix the problem if something's getting strangely munged in the IP stack somewhere.
