Now, you can do this with GenericSetup as well, thanks to Hanno. See
http://svn.plone.org/svn/collective/GSLocalAddons/trunk/
The test is informative:

Hanno said he was interested in factoring GSLocalAddOns into CMF
itself, so
maybe now's a good time to do so.
Alright, that's what I thought, I need to wave a lot more dead
domestic fowl ;)
I have to run off right now, but a quick look over GSLocalAddons
suggests it should be part of the main CMF Default GS profile, and
doing it with GenericSetup certainly is the way to go. Why did Hanno
not put it into the CMF base profile right from the start, dangit!
Now, seeing how this magic is done upon instantiation, I assume it
means existing sites are screwed or need a separate upgrade script?
