Zope does not need "ESI support" - You can write ESI statements in your
templates without specific support from Zope.

Does ZC use ESI in production? Maybe some experiences regarding caching?
Not yet, no. We are waiting for more stable Squid releases before using Squid3. We're also working with Robert Collins to hopefully jumpstart the release schedule.
