I don't remember anyone speaking up to support Python 2.5 and syntactically there is little between 2.4 and 2.5. Moving the baseline to 2.6 will allow the smooth introduction of exactly such Python 3 compatability. But, at the end of the day, the decision is with the ZTK group.
