Please don't discount the risks such an escape entails: in particular, the "balkanization" of the source tree creates both technical risks (developers in one of the satellites may not pay enough heed to the needs of their dependents), and branding risks (the "known good" / quality management issue). We probably need to mitigate a couple of ways: - Document expectations for release management of satellite projects (e.g., immutability of "released" tags[1], keeping changelogs up to date, announcements to appropriate channels, etc.) - Implement the 'meta-eggs' *now*, and create buildbot scripts which automate testing of the built egg(s) and dependencies as an integrated whole. [1] This means *never* doing 'svn mv' or 'svn remove' on such a tag, once announced. No exceptions, period, even for "brown bags".
