John has a very popular app which he keeps stats on. Last I hear he was about to break the half million download mark and was clocking up around 5,000 downloads a day.
Some of the devices he lists in his 88% figure run versions of Android prior to 2.0 in some countries, but updates to Android 2.x are reported as confirmed in the press (Hero & Magic). Al.
