I think progressive revelation was a much more general concept in Christianity than Dispensationalism which is rather specific. I was raised liberal Presbyterian but I heard the Bible spoken of in terms of progressive revelation when I was growing up. Indeed, modern Process Theology in some ways grows out of that.
