I looked into it this winter but opted for rod rigging (with forestay and
backstay switched to wire) because of a few reasons.

1) Resale value. Less people are familiar with synthetic rigging so it will
probably discourage buyers.
2) shorter life span

But there were some appealing characteristics:
1) got slightly cheeper quote on cost (not cheep enough to compensate for
resale issue)
2) can be inspected easily by me (huge plus)
3) in an emergency situation theoretically could be spliced and repaired at
sea.
4) less weight aloft, but for a mostly cruising boat this didn’t matter to
me.
