[Touch-packages] [Bug 2063040] [NEW] network-manager 1.46.0-1ubuntu2 on noble causes IPv4 address removal when no DHCP server is present

2024-04-21 Thread Andreas Karlson
Public bug reported:

I tried using a noble VM using a "host-only" network connection (which does not
have a DHCP server).
After adding an IPv4 address manually (using the ip command),
NetworkManager retries activating the network connection, which removes the
address that was previously added.

AFAIK, this does not happen on jammy.

Reproduction steps:
1. Create a host-only network connection
2. Leave it on Automatic in the NetworkManager settings panel
3. Add an IPv4 address manually using the ip command
4. Wait for the "Connection failed" notification
5. Check whether the configured address was removed

The reproduction video is attached as a WebM.

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: noble

Bug description:
While checking out the latest versions of cups (2.4.7-1.2ubuntu4 and
2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5),
I noticed that cupsd crashes consistently after closing my Firefox tab /
window.
The title of the crash (from the bug-report window) is "cupsd crashed with
SIGSEGV in ???()"

I'm running the noble-desktop-amd64.iso from 2024-03-25 after applying
some updates from the noble and noble-proposed pockets.

  Reproduction steps:
  1. Open Firefox and manage CUPS on http://localhost:631
  2. Go to Administration -> Printers -> Add Printer and choose your printer
  3. Add your printer (I used the ipps:// protocol to manage the printer)
  4. After clicking the "Add printer" button, immediately close your Firefox tab
  5. cupsd will crash and Ubuntu will display a bug-report popup

  Versions:
  Firefox - 124.0.1-1 r4033
  CUPS - 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5

  Printer:
  Lexmark MS415dn (supported)

I am unable to reproduce this bug on versions prior to
  2.4.7-1.2ubuntu4 (Tried with 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu1 and 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu2).

Versions 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu4 and 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5 only backported commits from

cupsd 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5 on noble crashes due to recently backported
  commits from 2.4.x git

Status in cups package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Versions 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu4 and 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5 only backported commits from
the 2.4.x upstream git branch, so I also opened an issue on GitHub:
  https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups/issues/934

  Printer:

[Bug 2060692] [NEW] cupsd 2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5 on noble crashes due to recently backported commits from 2.4.x git

2024-04-09 Thread Andreas Karlson
Public bug reported:

While checking out the latest versions of cups (2.4.7-1.2ubuntu4 and
2.4.7-1.2ubuntu5),
I noticed that cupsd crashes consistently after closing my Firefox tab / window.

[MLO] How to organize Projects and tasks in MLO windows, and then export the best views to work in Android?

2024-02-14 Thread 'Benny Karlson' via MyLifeOrganized

How to organize projects/tasks to be able to create a view in Windows to
then export to use in my android phone!?
Looking for best & easiest way to be able to automaticlly sort my Projects
and single tasks in the order that I want to execute them using my phone!?

A guess is it has to involve "Effort" in some way, to create the automatic
sort-order of the tasks I want them to appear in my list, or?! (but not
easy to change the effort, if I want to manually like to change some tasks)

If you then work at a few different locations, that each have a few
projects(is more than one task) and singles tasks. If first one project has
one effort and another project has a higher effort, and tasks under these
projects have an even higher effort, how will this work regarding the sort
order?
Will it be possible that efforts will be incuded automatically (like
context can do) under the parents effort in any smart way?

Do you put the singel tasks outside the projects, or elsewhere, and still
have them in the project view on my phone...
For example name it in different locations...

Area House1
Prj01 Projectname =effort normal
Task1 =effort max
Task2 =effort normal
Task3 = effort low
Prj02 Projectname =effort high
Task1 =effort high
Task2=effort max
Task3
Prj03 Projectname =effort max
Task1 =normal
Task2 =effort low
Task3 =effort max

and then

Area House2
Prj01 Projectname
Task1
Task2
Task3
Prj02 Projectname
Task1
Task2
Task3
Prj03 Projectname
Task1
Task2
Task3

Or is it better use context in a clever way to sort tasks in the way you
like to finish them? But can´t find a way to sort by just a context in this
case, or am I missing something?

Also locking for a clever way to name the projectnames to make it possible
with a mabye a number infront of name, or an other smart way to be able to
sort everything in each project order! Then use the same number in a
automatic given context under the main-project, so that all tasks and
sub-projects is sorted together under each project in a wanted view.

*
Also interested to see what people use Flags and Stars since they are easy
changed on Android

Hope for ideas to continue the search for a great workflow from my
projectplan, and project and task followup.

Regards Ben

[MLO] How to create a clever shoppinglist for Android?

2024-01-27 Thread 'Benny Karlson' via MyLifeOrganized

I´d like to have view with a shoppinglist for MLO-Android, that is easy to
use, quick inputs to of new tasks, and from multiple projects and areas. It
has to be sorted in a smart way by the different stores where to buy them
in the list!?

How to think to create this clever Shopping-list?

One idéa:

Since a folder can copy the automaticly to subtasks, I guess its
clever to put new tasks inputs under folders with the included context,
since either flag or Text will be copied to the new task under a folder.

So were should the flags or text be of best use in a shopping list?

If you like the list sorted by each store, (and mabye later also by
department and the map function ) where each store has its own !
How do you sort it , if you want every task sorted under each store?

See example where every store has its own context, like for example in the
stores below <♧Jula> and <♧BAUHAUS> etc.

With other words... How to sort a list by only the contexts you like?

[MLO] Problem with dashboard!?

2023-10-18 Thread 'Benny Karlson' via MyLifeOrganized
Hi,
I just started to try the new dashboard, an wonder is there is a problem
that I discovered? I create a new dasboard using one view in outline I
created showing all task including completed.

Then I change the outline view to hide the completed taskd, and that works
fine, BUT when I create a new column in my dashboard it still shows the
completed tasks?

But if I make a dublicate copy of the changed view in outline (with hidden
completed tasks) and then make a new column in dashboard it will turn out
right and not showing compleded.

This will be very confusing since the changes I do in the outline views
does not work in the dashboard!

Is this really how it is meant to work?

[MLO] Best way to create a good Workflow, first and most important to suit the Android-version and secondly on Computer

2023-05-23 Thread 'Benny Karlson' via MyLifeOrganized
Hi,
have used MLO for many years, mainly on my Android (before that Windows
phone), but always together with the PC-version. I have realized that
after all development and new features my workflow seems not to work
efficiently with all these new possibilities.
Does anyone built a working workflow to handle a lot of tasks in different
areas and places? Guess is about how to most efficient build your tree
structure
and then when to use Context when to use Flags or Texttags!?

Want a quick and easy input (one click) with as many things applied
automaticly (as context will do if copied in under a treebranch). This
means the tree folder structure...

A simple question of what you would choose...
Different Actions... Different places...
!Call @Computer
!Buy for @House 1
!Fetch @$hopA , $hopB
!Contact @House2
!Repair @Car1

Example1 Tree folders under each place
[Folder House1] - [Folder Repair] : Task1/Task2/ Task3
 [House1] - [Folder Buy] : Task1/Task2/ Task3
 [House1] - [Folder Call] : Task1/Task2/ Task3
or

Example1 Tree folders under each action
[Folder !Repair] - [Folder @House1] : Task1/Task2/ Task3
 [!Repair] - [Folder@House2] : Task1/Task2/ Task3
 [!Repair] - [Folder@Car1] : Task1/Task2/ Task3

Example 1 feels more naturual when follow up things done at different places

Any help would be greatly *appreciated*

[MLO] Want to use my Mobile more efficient! How to best build your folderstructure and contexts

2022-11-30 Thread 'Benny Karlson' via MyLifeOrganized
Hi all,

I,'m a long time MLO user, but have realized that with all the new
development on the mobile (Android) I feel I have missed the best way to
use MLO Android today. I have tried for some time to find the optimal and
quick way (=one push on a widget ) to use my phone to input tasks and then
find an efficient way to than use the output the way I want...

Simpel question mabye... But how do you build up your most efficiant fold
tree?

...How to for instance create a shoppinglist for different shops, that will
turn up when I arrive to the store!

... when it also should be able to contain products from different
projects, folders and other simpler todos etc.

Since the exellent input-widget in Android can be configured to specific
folder [Buy @ShopA] where I want to put them and there it can automaticlly
give it one or more context names {@shopA}.
Then if you have a Project 1 that also need a product from @shopA. This
would need another [Buy @ShopA] folder under the project!
Then you have a [MyHome] folder that also need products from @ShopA

Then you need another folder under Home with and another widget with
different setting!
I guess this sums up the problem with the need of creating all this widgets
and my wonder is if there is any way to minimize this by using other
techniques.

The problem occours in many ways when I build my tree structure and
understand when to use context or to use folders, to seperate things I
need to do in my todolist, things... ToBuy, ToFix, ToOrganize, ToCall
ToTransport, ToSurf etc.. and also WHERE to do it, since a lot of
ToDo´s should be done but at different places @Home @Work... (managed to
grow to 170 Context, and 450 folders so it not efficient any more ;-(

Mabye possible to use Flags or Filters in a clever way!?

Then it is next question how to find the right info in the right order at
your fingertips (on my phone) by using Workspaces, filters etc.

Hope for some nice input on how to be able to work more efficient with my
mobile

Ben

[MLO] Best (quickest) way to avoid Cluttered inbox when using Android (and the wonderful Voiceinput)

2020-09-16 Thread Benny Karlson
Hi,

still working and struggeling with this question, and wonder if anyone has
a better way to help me adjust my workflow, because I love the Voiceinput!

Today I have created a few widgets "MLO Shortcut settings" that have been
set to put the "task" different folders far down in my foldertree. But I
need one shortcut on phone for every folder and that is not possible to
administrate. Any other way to do this and to put new task directly in the
foldertree meaning also that they could get all the other context
automaticly from that folder.

question 2: When puting in folder like described what can be inherited from
that folder except the obvious context...?? Stars Flags Texttags??

Any other input help that could be helpful in this matter?

Best regards
Benny

P.S. If Andrew could change the dropdown meny so I can choose myself the
folders sorted in that dropdown, it would make a huge diffrens for everyone
advantage, since today I can only choose (in order)
"Recently used for move (5)" and the all my 511 folders and
they are sorted i from A-W.
and not very practical...D.S.

Bug#919777: libglib2.0-0: gtk file dialog crash assertion 'fs_type != NULL && *fs_type != '\0'' failed

2019-01-19 Thread Emil Karlson
Package: libglib2.0-0
Version: 2.58.2-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Upstream bug has been fixed, see:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1645
Tested that applying e695ca9f310c393d8f39694f77471dbcb06daa9e.patch from issue
on the debian package fixes the issue for me.

   * What led up to the situation?
Opening gtk file dialog or file browser, root being btrfs subvolume probably
related.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   Crash on assertion.
   (pcmanfm:7963): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 12:39:01.511:
g_unix_is_system_fs_type: assertion 'fs_type != NULL && *fs_type != '\0'' failed
   (pcmanfm:7963): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 12:39:01.511:
g_unix_is_system_device_path: assertion 'device_path != NULL && *device_path !=
'\0'' failed
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
   Not crash.

Subject: [PATCH] gunixmounts: Fix segfaults caused by new filter of mounts

Commit ed88b23f added libmount-based implementation to filter out mounts
with repeated device path. Unfortunately, this introduced a new bug, which
may cause segfaults from in certain configurations.

The problem is that `mnt_table_uniq_fs ()` is called from the loop which
already operates with the `fs` structs from that table. It may happen that
the current `fs` is removed from the table, which may consequently lead to
segfaults.

Closes: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1645

[RFC PATCH] truncate: add --data-size (-d) option

2018-11-02 Thread Emil Karlson
From: Emil Karlson

Add a new option to truncate to the smallest size that contains all its extents
ie. truncate to the offset of the end of the last extent in the file. This may
be convenient when passing very large images with long sparse tails to systems
that do not handle sparse images reasonably and do not need the sparse tails.

[PATCH v3] mfd: cros-ec: copy the whole event in get_next_event_xfer

2018-10-03 Thread Emil Karlson
Commit 57e94c8b974db2d83c60e1139c89a70806abbea0 caused cros-ec keyboard events
be truncated on many chromebooks so that Left and Right keys on Column 12 were
always 0. Use ret as memcpy len to fix this.

The old code was using ec_dev->event_size, which is the event payload/data size
excluding event_type header, for the length of the memcpy operation. Use ret
as memcpy length to avoid the off by one and copy the whole msg->data.

Fixes: 57e94c8b974d ("mfd: cros-ec: Increase maximum mkbp event size")

Acked-by: Enric Balletbo i Serra
Tested-by: Emil Renner Berthing
Signed-off-by: Emil Karlson
---

Notes:
Changes in v3
- Improve commit message.
Changes in v2
- Fix the off by one in memcpy parameter rather than restoring the old
behaviour
  for v0 messages.

Re: [PATCH] mfd: cros-ec: copy the whole event in get_next_event_xfer

2018-09-28 Thread Emil Karlson
I failed in In-Reply-To:
<22cc40a7-015b-6038-2093-8cd1ff0c8...@baylibre.com> somehow.

I was urged to go for correct rather than conservative fix on IRC. I
have tested this on my message
version 0 Kevin and it fixes the original problem for me, but someone
should perhaps test this on
newer system that has message version 1. Background work documented in
commit message.

Best regards

Re: [PATCH] mfd: cros-ec: copy the whole event in get_next_event_xfer

2018-09-28 Thread Emil Karlson
I failed in In-Reply-To:
<22cc40a7-015b-6038-2093-8cd1ff0c8...@baylibre.com> somehow.

I was urged to go for correct rather than conservative fix on IRC. I
have tested this on my message
version 0 Kevin and it fixes the original problem for me, but someone
should perhaps test this on
newer system that has message version 1. Background work documented in
commit message.

[PATCH] mfd: cros-ec: copy the whole event in get_next_event_xfer

2018-09-28 Thread Emil Karlson
Commit 57e94c8b974db2d83c60e1139c89a70806abbea0 caused cros-ec keyboard events
be truncated on many chromebooks so that Left and Right keys on Column 12 were
always 0. Use ret as memcpy len to fix this.

drivers/platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c:509
get_next_event_xfer uses ret from cros_ec_cmd_xfer for memcpy for msg->data len
drivers/platform/chrome/cros_ec_proto.c:445
cros_ec_cmd_xfer gets ret from send_command

Re: [PATCH] mfd: cros-ec: copy the whole event when msg->version is 0

2018-09-27 Thread Emil Karlson
To note I have almost no idea what I am doing and ended up wondering,
whether the messages are always truncated and it only shows on version
0, because the messages are not padded to longer lenght. Alternatively
the ret could possibly be used as copy length without the -1, right
now I am unable to test with version 1, possibly it requires update of
cros-ec firmware.

2018-01-14 15:01:44,015+0100 INFO (libvirt/events) [virt.vm]
(vmId='2c34f52d-140b-4dbe-a4bd-d2cb467b0b7c') abnormal vm stop device
virtio-disk0 error eother (vm:4880)

We are running glusterfs for shared storage.

I have tried setting global maintenance on the first server and then
issuing a 'hosted-engine --vm-start' but that leads to nowhere.

encrypt_done called from interrupt context on rk3288 crypto driver

2017-05-25 Thread Emil Karlson
Greetings

It seems to me that rk3288 crypto driver calls encrypt_done from
interrupt context which causes runtime tests to fail.

This regression is probably introduced with patch:

on the specified path even though 10.2.0.15:/mnt/data/vm should contain a

[MLO] Re: Need A QUICK WAY to get rid of a cluttered MLO, and move between inbox and tree-structure folders

2017-01-19 Thread Benny Karlson
Thanks Oliver,
that's a nice and quick way to find tasks with text filter, new to me :-)
BUT unfortunately I quite often don't have this identical text "Project1"
written in all of my tasks I like to move to the Project1 folder .-( This
means I still need to do a manual pic of these tasks and the question
remains. If there is the not a command for this today, (to select/highlight
task while using Arrow up or down, maybe someone could ask for this little
feature from the developer team. It should really ease up the speed in
moving tasks to right folder. There must be a lot more people out there
that, fast fills up there inbox, when for instance, using the excellent
mobil apps with speech to text input etc.

[MLO] How to do the quickest and simplest Navigation and marking with arrows??

2017-01-18 Thread Benny Karlson
Hi,

just realize that I must have missed the absolute basic, since I cant find,
the probably very simple, way to mark for example every second task in the
Outline without using the mouse [CTRL+Click]. Its easy to mark everything
above or under, where I stand in the outline, with [SHIFT+ArrowUp] (or
ArrowDown)

BUT how to do, to only mark for example, every second row (task in the
outline) when you use only keyboard, and your Arrows? Guess just quickly
press ??? at the same time to mark, and then continue up/down with arrows a
few rows and the mark a new task without losing the marked row I first did?

Thanks in advance (for saving me some time in cleaning the outline ;-)

/Benny

Bug#846642: dnsmasq-base: Dnsmasq-base seems to be incorrectly linked against libnettle6-3.3

On 2.7 6-4.1 the nettle_hashes object size is 112 (correct) and it no
longer crashes while resolving yp1.yayponies.no using dnssec, on my
part this bug can be closed.

Bug#846642: dnsmasq-base: Dnsmasq-base seems to be incorrectly linked against libnettle6-3.3

2016-12-02 Thread Emil Karlson
Package: dnsmasq-base
Version: 2.76-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
resolving dns for yp1.yayponies.no with dnssec enabled
   * What was the outcome of this action?
dnsmasq received sigsegv while accessing memory at 0x9
(libnettle_hashes[10], corrupt ro linked data on a rw mapped section
in /usr/bin/dnsmasq)

readelf shows what I interpret as missmatch in size of symbol
nettle_hashes perhaps due to package being compiled against
libnettle-3.2, which has smaller nettle_hashes.

Size should be 112 and is 80 for the original debian binary,
recompiled binary (listed also, can not reproduce the bug) has symbol
size 112

Please verify. if there is ABI mismatch between libnettle-3.2 and
libnettle-3.3, it may also be relevant to other packages.

[MLO] Fewer links to external programs in Android2.0?

2016-02-18 Thread Benny Karlson

Is there anyone who can tell me what kind of Android Notes/Document/
Picture-programs that has possiblities to share links to MLO?
In Android 1.x I felt that the MLO symbol appeared in many programs when I
pushed the share button in a lot of programs, but now I hardly see it in any
program using Android 2.0!?

And an earlier question I had in Android 1.X was, if it is possible to use my
MLO-Android 2.0 on Phone or Tablet to be able to connect/link to external data
like a photo, recording, documents etc. stored on the Phone/Tablet and Desktop!
And it should ofcourse also link to the same synced document, preferably stored
localy on my desktop (not Dropbox etc. if possible) . And I want to do this
without having to use  another software like Evernote etc. Does anyone have a
clever solution to be able to do this in an easy way!??

Regards

Ben

Re: [Openstack] [designate] Create a domain not associated to a tenant

2015-11-13 Thread Endre Karlson
Actually this is not possible at the given time because one of the
middlewares will enforce that you have a Project ID specified in the
request. There was a bug earlier on where this was enforced..

What's the usecase of not having it bound to a tenant?

Re: [Openstack-operators] [kolla] Inviting Operators to participate in the specification of a new deployment tool

  Hi Steven,

Can I ask how Kolla would differ from another project on StackForge
known as OpenStack Ansible Deployment (OSAD)? It deploys a production-ready
multi-node OpenStack cloud using containers and Ansible, and the team
recently released v11 based on Kilo. Hate to see duplication of efforts
 here.

  Thanks,

   Hey folks,

I am the PTL for a project called Kolla. We are currently a stackforge
project but our developer community has tripled in size in the last few
months. Our community mission was originally to “containerize OpenStack”
but the next logical step after OpenStack is containerized is deployment.
Our community wants to take a look at that mountain with a focus on
 simplicity.

I’d like to invite Operators to provide their feedback on the fledgling
blueprint I have created to mark the Kolla community’s commitment to
develop an Ansible deployment tool that deploys OpenStack in containers.

Please have a review and provide feedback here:

Re: Spark stages very slow to complete

2015-06-02 Thread Karlson
Hi, the code is some hundreds lines of Python. I can try to compose a
minimal example as soon as I find the time, though. Any ideas until
then?

Would you mind posting the code?
On 2 Jun 2015 00:53, Karlson ksonsp...@siberie.de wrote:

Hi,

In all (pyspark) Spark jobs, that become somewhat more involved, I am
experiencing the issue that some stages take a very long time to
complete
and sometimes don't at all. This clearly correlates with the size of
my
input data. Looking at the stage details for one such stage, I am
wondering

where Spark spends all this time. Take this table of the stages task
metrics for example:

Metric Min 25th
percentile Median 75th percentile Max
Duration1.4 min 1.5 min 1.7
min

 1.9 min 2.3 min
Scheduler Delay 1 ms3 ms4 ms
  5 ms23 ms
Task Deserialization Time 1 ms2 ms3 ms
  8 ms22 ms
GC Time 0 ms0 ms0 ms
  0 ms0 ms
Result Serialization Time 0 ms0 ms0 ms
  0 ms1 ms
Getting Result Time 0 ms0 ms0 ms
  0 ms0 ms
Input Size / Records23.9 KB / 1 24.0 KB / 1 24.1
KB /

1 24.1 KB / 1 24.3 KB / 1

Why is the overall duration almost 2min? Where is all this time spent,
when no progress of the stages is visible? The progress bar simply
displays
0 succeeded tasks for a very long time before sometimes slowly
progressing.

Also, the name of the stage displayed above is `javaToPython at
null:-1`,
which I find very uninformative. I don't even know which action
exactly is
responsible for this stage. Does anyone experience similar issues or
have

any advice for me?

Thanks!
