Thanks Joe for reply , I suggest this additional option (direct download) because at least this give user to save shipping cost etc. most of the countries has better internet conntion so may be 18 GB not a big deal. it can be break into smaller part not ONE big file. so let say if I am studying OSPF then I can go to ipexpert and just download OSPF video once I done with I can download additional video as per my study progess. it is not all about saving cost but give user additional feature and quick update. What in my explanation do you not understand? I assume you are familiar with binary math right? Here we go again :-) Class D Multicast addresses go from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 which you pointed out. The question states you need to make sure that half of these addresses are assigned a specific RP. Right. So Half of the multicast range runs from 224.0.0.0 to 231.255.255.255 right? (total of 16 /8 subnets, half of it is 8) Now we want to filter on it. I assume you are aware of the wildcard mask logic. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th octet are very simple, we just need to match anything, so our wildcard mask will look like this: 224.0.0.0 x.255.255.255 The only thing we don't know is the X. We write down 224 and 231 (first octet from the lowest and highest address). 1110 = 224 1110 0111 = 231 Here we see, the last 3 bits of the octet are different and we need to match on everything that lies in between. We count up the values of those 3 bits = 1+2+4=7 So X is 7 The wildcard mask to match on HALF of the Class D multicast range is = 224.0.0.0 7.255.255.255 Is this clear for you now? [OSL | CCIE_RS] LAB4-Vol2-DSG- Issues with Redistribution of OSPF = EIGRP at R6
Team, OK, I know I am taking a risk here...voicing my frustration...but am giving up for today...I can not figure it out why R6 after receiving routes from OSPF domain, does not pass these routes on to EIGRP domain. Below is a snapshot of the config (including redistribution) but for now I would like to mention that, in my troubleshooting process I have verified the following (typical steps when troubleshooting issues with EIGRP route advertisements): --- On R6 I checked: 1- Neighborship with R9 and Cat3 = check. 2- DLs blocking updates = check [N/A=not applicable] 3- no auto-summary =check 4- split-horison issues = N/A 5- Did Debug ip eigrp but could not see any messages from R6. On R9 and Cat3 doing sh ip route any route from OSPF domain, the result was the expected message: %not in the table - R6 config snapshot: router eigrp 130 redistribute ospf 1 metric 1000 1000 255 1 1500 network 150.20.66.0 0.0.0.255 network 150.20.69.0 0.0.0.255 no auto-summary ! router ospf 1 router-id 150.10.6.6 log-adjacency-changes area 30 virtual-link 150.10.7.7 message-digest-key 1 md5 cisco redistribute eigrp 130 subnets ! Note: R6 can see and reach any OSPF routes...the problem is with R9, Cat3, Cat4 (sitting behing R6). They do not receive any eigrp advertisements, regarding OSPF routes from R6. After redistribution, this should happen immediately. I am not including configs of R9 or Cat3 [to save space] since neighborship with R6 is OK. Any thoughts? Bauke __ Yahoo! You don't have a metric for your redistribution into OSPF. But I don't think thats it...
