Maemo uses framebuffer instead of X, you will have to re-write GUI to port anything to OpenMoko from it. 2008/3/12, joerg [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Am Mi 12. If planning on using a FreeRunner as phone over WiFi you're better off finding some SIP VoIP provider than using Skype with its's proprietary protocol. Hi, i think, Maemo is not using FB directly, it's using an x-server and the matchbox WM. see http://maemo.org/development/documentation/how-tos/4-x/maemo_architecture.html#WM cheers Markus 12. I do totally agree with this, btw a skype client could be useful to contact friends (both by voice and by chatting) that are using the skype client on different platforms. I use skype really few times, but I must admit that is the easier way to talk with a friend using (a bad and proprietary implementation of) VoIP. -- Treviño's World - Life and Linux http://www.3v1n0.net/ ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: Using Wi-fi on Neo FreeRunner
I haven't heard of any VOIP service with a client available for OpenMoko. Someone else probably has better info on this. As far as loading new applications, you will not need a data plan to do that. You could download them straight to the Neo over wi-fi or load them onto the Neo over USB from your computer. -Steven On Tue, Mar 11, 2008 at 1:29 PM, Mary Stovel [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: My questions are... how will the FreeRunner connect using wi-fi so that I can make a call?
