Didn't know that about tinyurl, as far as it being blocked because of spam. Good point. I'll post actual permalinks whenever I post tinyurl links. Here's the one to the tinyurl for this topic: http://www.interactivedna.com/HD_FullScreen/ -- Bill Cammack http://CammackMediaGroup.com --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Erick Papadakis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Wow, this is quite amazing, although here in Asia the flow is a little feretty from time to time as the video buffers. But when it's there, it is absolutely mindboggling. Btw, I had to see it through a proxy. Could you guys please use snipurl.com or something else -- tiny url is supposedly a spammer's haven and many ISPs block it. Better still is to give the original URL along with the snipped URL, as some of us use email clients which can show the long version just fine. Anyway, great work! Aha its nice to see HD back on the agenda :) A few details: Current version of flash can do high def, but the 'moviestar' version that is in beta has the following advantages: h264 support vp6 codec now has a version that uses less cpu hardware scaling support in fullscreen (uses less cpu than existing fullscreen method) If you have a mac, the moviestar version of flash 9 was updated in November, I guess to improve performance on the mac: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer9.html Vime is doing true HD, and we are talking 720P (1280x720 24fps). I asuume their stuff works on the non-beta flash player, and so is using vp6 codec rather than h264. The vimeo HD FAQ has some good info encoding tips: http://vimeo.com/help/hd They advise people to upload in h264, but as I said Im assuming they convert to vp6 for now, and this may change once Moviestar is out of beta. Im not sure whether the Shrek etc demos are using h264 or not, the fact they mention Flash 8 makes me guess its vp6, but they do use the hardware-accelerated fullscreen mode, which will only work if you have the flash beta. In practice both vp6 and h264 will be rather nice for 720P stuff, so many of these details wont matter to vloggers, especially if they have a video host like Vimeo worrying about the details. You are then free to concentrate on getting the HD content you upload to your host, to be the best queality, eg you must deinterlace. I was waiting for the moviestar flash to get out of beta, so I could use 720P h264 that I had encoded hosted myself, with the knowledge that the fullscreen mode would be smoother for people, and would hopefully run better on slightly slower computers than can currently handle this stuff. An I still think decisions about whether to go to HD depend on what sort of content you produce, it probably wont ad that much to some vlogs, whilst others will really shine with the extra resolution. Even if people dont want to up their resolution, I really do recommend people try higher framerates, the era of 12fps should really be over by now, and it really change the feel of content. Well when people think blueray, they think of the physical discs, so its not been mentioned by vloggers much. So when you say you think its the future, do you mean on the net as well? If so, you are really talking about the video codecs that blueray uses, not the format itself which is bound to physical discs. Blueray supports mpeg2, h264 (also knows as AVC), and VC-1. Mpeg2 is not really considered suitable for the web, but h264 and vc-1 are both used on the net a lot today, albeit not normally at very high resolutions yet. At both normal and HD resolutions, here are your options for using these formats on the web: h264 can be played via quicktime in the browser, and by the forthcoming flash moviestar version. vc-1 can be played by windows media player, and silverlight. vp6 can be played by flash. All of them offer fairly comparable quality filesizes, vp6 and h264 will probably have a huge advantage due to the dominance of flash these days, but if Silverlight ever catches on then VC-1 may find a place in the scene too. Nice find - I am having connection issues, big/several buffering breaks but looked good when playing in full screen mode (between buffering) There is a controller and it has a menu. Click it and you'll get two other trailers (Bee Movie Bucket List) and a link to email the creator. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Bill Cammack [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Looks great to me. :) Full-Screen Flash 8 HD Video = http://tinyurl.com/2g9ndq -- Bill Cammack http://CammackMediaGroup.com

How can 320x240 and 640x480 compare to HD? Wow... I know it's supposed to be all about the content, but we/ve go to get on the full screen bandwagon. I'm impressed.

Hate to add the most useless comment ever, but WOW that looks incredible.
