The real reason I was filing this bug (before the discovery of dh_numpy

Ok I created a git repository into the debian-science repo
which contain all the history known from snapshot Debian.
git clone ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-science/packages/pytables.git
could you add the packaging for the new version in it.
That way it will be easier to review the package.
since pytables relies on numexpr we better have an uptodate version
beware that the 2.0.1 numexp version require numpy 1.6 which is not yet part of
unstable.

thanks, I decided to use modeling.
(Except that The Molecular Modelling Toolkit is its name, so maybe
that spelling's canonical? But then you'd have two different
spellings of the same thing in the first two lines...)
I will speak to the upstream and ask him to change the name also.

hello
I tested one of my package (spyder) with piuparts.
The install upgrade and purge test failed with remaing files
13m27.1s INFO: Warning: Package purging left files on system:
/usr/share/pyshared/spyderlib owned by: python-spyderlib
/usr/share/pyshared/spyderlib/doc not owned
Can you provide the old and new version of the package?
here they are :
http://people.debian.org/~picca/spyder/
I think you have a symlink somewhere in your package, and while you
expected it to be replaced by a directory on upgrade, this did not happen.
And thus the old files were kept...
Thanks, I will do this in the preinst
I think that I am not the first one affected by that sort of problem.
Is there a FAQ for package transition usual mistakes ? like this one.
thanks

As library packaging is generally regarded as a difficult task, a very
good guide at
http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/column/libpkg-guide/libpkg-guide.html
is a recommended reading. That guide contains also very clear
background information on the various version numbering systems
