Re: [TYPO3-german] transparenter header mit GIFBUILDER

Hallo Georg,
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/pngtest.htm
  ) unterstützt wird.

Hi Georg

 Template Engine in TYPO3.

Haube sowieso alles, was smarty auch bereitstellt.

 meinem
 Export / Import keine Probleme haben. Bei mir wird jedoch der
 Seitentitel (Über uns) beim Import überhaupt nicht übernommen. Das
 Datenbank-Feld bleibt leer. Das Import-Ergebnis schreibt den
 Seitentitel
 in ROT.

 TYPO3 = Latin-1 *
 Verbindung = Latin-1 *
 Datenbank = Latin-1

 TYPO3 = Latin-1 *
 Verbindung = Latin-1 *
 Datenbank = UTF8

 * (Vermutung) da:
 [SYS][setDBinit] =
 [SYS][UTF8filesystem] = 0
 [BE][forceCharset] =

2009-04-01 Thread Tom Arnold
 Du kannst in einem cObject so ziemlich alles reinpacken, was es an
 Objekten
 gibt.

 1.NO {
 stdWrap.cObject = COA
 stdWrap.cObject {
 10 = TEXT
 10.dataWrap = h1 class=pagetitle{field:title}/h1
 20 = COA
 20 {
 wrap = div class=pagecontent|/div
 10 = CONTENT
 10 {
 # Rest wie gehabt
 }
 }
 }
 }

Superdanke!
an welche Eigenschaft man sinnvollerweise rangeht?

Hallo,

lässt sich mit TS so etwas zusammenbauen?

=Struktur im Backend:=
[ - Oberseite - ]
-- [ - Seite 1 - ]
-- [ - Inhalt 1 Seite 1 - ]
-- [ - Inhalt n Seite 1 - ]
-- [ - Seite n - ]
-- [ - Inhalt 1 Seite n - ]

=Ausgabe:=
Auf einer Seite werden die Inhalte
[ - Inhalt 1 Seite 1 bis Inhalt n Seite 1 -]
[...]
[ - Inhalt 1 Seite n bis Inhalt n Seite n -]
ausgegeben.

Meine momentaner Stand:

Every time I download a torrent it finishes, but when ktorrent checks

Bug#509523: lvm2: LV is not recognized anymore

2008-12-23 Thread Tom Arnold
Thanks a lot for answering.

  Version: sid

 This is no valid version. Please be more accurate.

Sorry, I cannot access the filesystem to check. I dist-upgraded the whole
system from Sid on Thursday if that helps.

 Works flawless on my testsystem. Maybe you need a rootdelay=10.

I tried that, but it did not help.
Same error and

ALERT! /dev/mapper/vg1_lv1 does not exist. Dropping to shell.

I now think it could also be something with the encryption. With live CDs I
can't
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda2 root although I am sure I know the password.

I entered it a thousand times.
My other password encrypted drive mounts fine from a rescue system.

Bug#509523: lvm2: LV is not recognized anymore

2008-12-22 Thread Tom Arnold
Package: lvm2
Version: sid
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

I updated the system and now this appears when I boot:

Volume group vg1 not found
File descriptor 3 left open
Volume group vg1 not found
cryptsetup: source device /dev/mapper/vg1-lv1 not found

This is from my menu.lst:

root(0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/vg1-lv1_crypt ro quiet
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.26-1-amd64

I tried mounting the volume with the Lenny install CD, the live CD and with
the two
last versions of Ubuntu, but nothing seems to work.

I saw a cryptsetup and a kernel update. Might that be the problem?

I also checked the disk but it seems fine.

Is there a as fast workaround? ( Dragging to the side is way slower if you want

Re: [time-nuts] GPS, NTP, and Cisco routers...

 Subject: [time-nuts] GPS, NTP, and Cisco routers...

 I've been fiddling around with an old Cisco router here at the house
 to brush up. We have an IPv6 project going at work, and our WAN
 provider provides no native transit, so I'm looking at doing some
 tunneling. Anyhow... I discovered IOS 12.1 and above have native NTP
 capability. I don't have the exhaustive IOS command reference, and I
 suspect it's a limited NTP implementation. I'm wondering if it's
 possible to tie a GPS unit to a router serial port and gain a stratum
 0 refclock.

 Any Cisco guru's on the list? :-)

Cisco routers have a fairly basic NTP capability. No chance right now of
using the serial port to speak to a GPS or synced clock on 90% of the gear.
I can't say for certain on some of the really high-end stuff but I kinda
doubt it.

Its really only intended for redistribution, heck, you can even *set* what
Stratum you claim to be ( by default I think Cisco uses 8 ). The only
extra features they support is they will do ntp/multicast which is nice
from a client config point of view for us at least.

I'm using a pair of Endrun CDMA based ntp servers because they will work
inside a colo without external antennas, they sync our Cisco cores which
multicast out to the clients. We're within a few milliseconds which is
close enough. For redistribution to customers we sync a bunch of unix ntp
servers directly off the CDMA servers so our customers get Stratum 2. I
hope to be adding a third Endrun box to the mix shortly where I can put up
an external GPS antenna...

*hands out some chill pills* B)

First of all: Thank you Christopher Blizzard and Mitchell Baker for
taking our concerns so seriously. ( Asa not so much )

I think if we get a Fedora like solution where Firefox just opens a web
page like

http://fedoraproject.org/static/firefox/
( actually read the thing, people. It is _NOT AN EULA_ )

on first startup then most Ubuntu users can live with that I guess.

And according to

http://www.internetnews.com/dev-
news/article.php/3771696/Mozilla+ReThinking+Firefox+EULA.htm

it might even get better.

So lets have some tea and watch what happens.

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-15 Thread Tom Arnold
How about two Live-CDs? One with abrowser and one with Firefox?

From what I can see in MozCorps Bugzilla it seems that they really think this
will not hurt their brand in any way.
They are obviously mistaken. Introducing the concept of EULAs to free software
isn't an achievement to be proud of.

When you think about it one Ubuntu promise is not really true:
Ubuntu CDs contain only free software applications; we encourage you to use
free and open source software, improve it and pass it on.
But it was only really true for Gobuntu, so nothing has changed.

Well .. let's see what the Fedora and OpenSuse communities think. The Fedora
people have successfully fought against their own stupid EULA, so it should be
interesting.
Arch ,Gentoo and many other distros have shipped unbranded builds of Firefox
(they say Bon Echo or now Gran Paradiso in the title) without any problems.

The Arch package and executable is still called firefox .. nobody really seemed
to care a lot. It is not like:
OMG! Arch has no Firefox(TM)! It must be crap!

Nobody cares.

People do however care about stupid meaningless contracts in legalese
with allcaps that are presented to them at startup.

If this is accepted, this will get out of hand at some point.

I can see Google Chrome doing the same etc.

Do we want to have a Linux distro for human beings that is plastered
with EULAs?

I just don't. Reading EULAs is not software freedom IMNSHO.

Taking Iceweasel and telling users that it based on Firefox so that they
know where to look for addons etc might be a good option.

It will be interesting to see how Novell and Red Hat handle this. ( Or
Fedora and OpenSuse for that matter. )

( A hostile aproach would be to change the Firefox ID (or whatever) so
that Google does not pay Mozilla for all the google searches _we_ do.
Losing a few million Ubuntu heavy users might persuade Mozilla to treat
their users a bit more respectfully and not bother them with EULAs. But
I am not sugesting that. Just wanted to mention it. )

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-14 Thread Tom Arnold
Creating a buzz around the Chrome EULA helped .. maybe it works here
too:

http://digg.com/linux_unix/Mozilla_wants_Linux_users_to_accept_EULA_at_Firefox_startup

Stuff like this is very detrimental to Mozillas standing in the OS
community. They should fear that once Webkit browser get addons people
won't have much loyality left and just switch.

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-14 Thread Tom Arnold
I just thought about it a little more and while loosing a good brand like
firefox might be bad
_not_ presenting each new user with allcaps legalese might actually be a good
selling point.

Coordinating with other distros on this issue would be good. Just build the
definite Linux browser brand ( powered by Mozilla ).
That will be a win-win for everybody in the long run.

Just make sure the browser gets a good name and it is clear to everyone
that it is just a self build Firefox without the annoyance/nag.

Mozilla is the new XFree86.

Firefox is not free anymore.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

[Bug 213494] Re: [Hardy] Glipper dies when desktop starting

2008-08-23 Thread Tom Arnold
OK, I see.

But is shipping a broken version the right solution?

Installing Parcellite does not seem to be that easy.

I can see that going forward Parcellite might be the better solution (
maintained, C instead of Python ), but for now Glipper works fine with
the workaround ..

[Bug 9068] Re: Serial mice are not autodetected

2008-06-21 Thread Tom Arnold
Hmm, I don't know.
I guess I would do it like Windows95 and just use Standard Serial Mouse
protocol. That should make most people happy ( like 99 % .. like the ones that
complain a lot :P ). People do not exspect Ubuntu to work with every obscure
hardware ( well some probably do ) but it should work with hardware that
Windows works with out of the box ( which isn't that much .. actually it is
very little  ).
If that is a no go for you how about low tech solution .. have a configure
dialog pop up and ask people what kind of mouse they have.
Or maybe a high tech solution ( not sure this is possible .. I am brainstroming
:) ) .. analyse the signals you receive from the serial ports and guess the
protocol.

Marking this as wontfix is not the right solution though IMHO.

Re: Smallest cheapest device to run a tor home server?

2008-04-11 Thread Tom Arnold
Yes, Epia would certainly do the trick. I guess a 32mb router with 200 mhz
could do it too. The Slug ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2 ) seems to
work too.
But i think something more powerfull like the gigabit Linkstation (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkstation ) will certainly be enough to route
60 kb/sec ( 30 up and down ) .. why would TOR need more resouces??

I think i might get an old Pentium notebook with 64mb+ RAM or a Linkstation.

Smallest cheapest device to run a tor home server?

2008-04-10 Thread Tom Arnold
Hello Everone ( I am new ),

i love Tor and i want to contribute.
First of all does it make sense to run a tor relay on a ADSL line. I would
be willing to share 30-40kb a sec 24/7.
I have a linux WLAN router ( DD-WRT ) with 125 Mhz, 4 mb flash and 16 mb RAM
( 3 mb free ). Is that enough to run Tor?
( I didnt find any recent ipk packages .. so i guess it is not worth it
otherwise people would do it ... )
Would a 32 mb device with 200 mhz do the trick? Or what about the NSLU2 or
the Linkstation. Or is a used laptop the best choice?
So many questions :) ( BTW i didnt find any requirements on the homepage )

ThanksRegards,

T0M

PS: sorry for asking, but i already asked on the german CCC list but didnt
get any definite answers.

[Bug 201673] Re: REGRESSION: glibc 2.7-9ubuntu1 NSS module broken due to toolchain changes

2008-03-13 Thread Tom Arnold
Colin:

Why dont you run updates for important base packages through a
virtualbox installation of Ubuntu first. If it breaks you can just go
back to save point X and fix it. Nobody will ever know ;)

The process could even be automated.
Like:
Only send the update if the vbox installtion reboots and shows X11 (gdm, kdm ..
) || login ( for a server ).

I think people do test/run LTS releases even in development. And this is not
what i would call a confidence building exercise ;)
And we exspect bugs and breakage .. but not easily avoidable severe breakage :-P

But what do i know .. i just wanted to give my .02€
