Hi Luca,

that's what Deutsche Telekom has told me. I'm using it since a few
month in Germany and it works well.

It depends from which ports are supported by your provider. Sipgate
for example is telling there customers to use 5060, 5160, 5260 etc.

Asterisk together with an ip-based account from Deutsche Telekom is no
problem and there is no problem with NAT too because you can use IPv6.

My only problem was the router, a Zyxel Speedlink 5501. This router
was delivered from Deutsche Telekom and there is no support from
Zyxel for it.

It stopped working many times a day. May be it's fixed now with the

They question is more, why a Fritz!Box, why you don't buy a modem

Re: [asterisk-users] RES: RES: How to invoke a binary file from the dial plan?

Thank you very much for the hint! It worked very well!

  Your example ' exten = 1234,1,System(echo This is a test /
var/log/asterisk/test.txt) ' executes when the SIP client (my
softphone Jitsi) sends a SIP INVITE to asterisk. So, the softphone
tries to establish a session with target 1234.

Now, lets suppose my softphone rings and I answer a call. During the
call, the caller asks me to execute a command (ex: to open a door or
gate). In this case, what have I to program in dial plan to Asterisk
execute System() again? Is it possible to execute a dial plan even
  during an ongoing call?

Finally, lets suppose I want to use my softphone to execute a dial
plan, even without establishing a call (no session with target
1234). For example, If I decide to open a dor or gate using my
softphone, without existing an ongoing call, what have I to program
in dial plan to Asterisk executes System(). Is this idea possible?

Any hint will be very hepful!

I love this question, simply because it allows me to talk about one of the
neatest features I programmed into my system that barely anyone knows
exists. Plus it lines up pretty much exactly with what you are trying to do.

We have our gate control system tied into our Asterisk phone system so it
is possible to dial a code on the phone and open the entrance gate to let
someone in after hours. Only problem is this happens so rarely that no one
(myself included) ever remembered the code. Thus a search for a better way.

Now, when someone uses the gate phone to request entry, I change the
caller ID on the display of the person who answers to read Press 9 to open
gate. During the call, they can hit 9 at any time and the gate will open
for them. Up until they answer, the caller ID reads Gate Phone, but when
they answer, it changes to that text.

The part about opening the gate is the magic piece you want to look into.
Read up on applicationmap in features.conf. It's pretty simple and very
effective. Here is what mine looks like. I am going to replace my actual
 command with insert command here.

gate = 9,self/callee,System,insert command here ; Custom application to
 open the gate.

This says that this feature is active in the 'gate' context of my
dialplan. The dialing pattern it is looking for is a 9. 'self' tells it to
activate on the channel that dialed it and callee says that the person
receiving the call is the only one that can activate it (otherwise the
person at the gate phone could hit 9 to open it). I am running the System
dialplan application and passing it the insert command here value.
Everything after the ';' is a comment as normal. The insert command here
is equivalent to what you would put inside the '()' if it were in the
 dialplan (i.e. 'System(insert command here)').

Pretty straightforward to get it working once you know what to look for.
Let me know if you want to know how I manipulate the Caller ID upon
answering the call to give the instructions to the callee on how to open
 the gate/door.

I am running Asterisk 11.12.0 on CentOS 6.4. The asterisk
server and internal phones are located on the 10.10.32.0/21
LAN subnet. I have many internal SIP phones, which appear
to be working correctly. I have a few external phones
(Yealink SIP-T32G or other Yealink model) on
192.168.32.0/24 which have an OpenVPN client configured on
them that connects back to the LAN network through a
pfSense gateway with OpenVPN configured on it.

I faced problems with pfsense -no VPN involved- and finally
installed siproxd on it. Also set the firewall mode to
 conservative.

 Daniel,

Thanks for the information. Do you have an example or
documentation on the siproxd configuration that you used?

No, just follow the basis of the parameters given by the package.
If I remember, SIP use the proxy siproxd and RTP is direct.

Looking into it further, in my case it does not appear to be a
NATing issue, since running OpenVPN from pfSense means there's no
NATing occurring between the clients or between the clients and the
 asterisk server.

Although I was unable to reproduce the problems, I did notice some
packet loss and jitter in sip show channelstats, here is a
sample: Peer Call ID Duration Recv: Pack Lost
 ( %) Jitter Send: Pack Lost ( %) Jitter
 192.168.32.26446613544@1 00:03:03 94 004238

 1.67%) 0. 00 91 ( 0.00%) 0.0028

I was unable to find documentation each of these columns, but the
high percentage of loss for received packets for 192.168.32.26
seems suspicious. Do these statistics indicate a problem?

 Thanks,

 Andrew

 Hello all,

I created a set of Docker images running Asterisk and exposing AMI

 development and regression.

As they are based on Docker with whaleware, adding new
configuration files to roll your own dialplan / queues / voicemail
etc is pretty easy. And you can run quite a lot on the same box to
 simulate clusters.

There is no SIP / RTP configured at the moment.

 See
 https://github.com/l3nz/whaleware/blob/master/examples/asterisk-load-t
est/README.md

Maybe somebody else might find them useful. There is Asterisk 1.8,
 11, 12 and 13. Thanks

Great, will try it out tonight ...

Thanks

Hi Akhilesh,

looks like your firewall is blocking it.

Have you tried 'nmap -p5060 ip of your asterisk' or something similar?

Connect to your Asterisk via ssh and run asterisk -rvv.

If, then use a single machine for it, not a VM. And if you can't do

We also would like to give user ability to control DND and forwarding of

[ADMIN] How to uninstall Postgres_Plus_Standard_Server?

2011-02-13 Thread Guenther Boelter
Hello!

I few month ago I have tried the Postgres Plus Standard Server 8.4
(downloaded from http://www.enterprisedb.com/) on a Fedora 13 machine.

It's not bad, but in my obinion there are to many 'toys' included.
Means, I'm back to my PostgreSQL Standard edition now, available from
Fedora.

My problem is, that after I have removed the Postgres Plus Standard
Server 8.4 package from http://www.enterprisedb.com using the there
uninstall script, the complete menu-entry was still there.

So I have removed manually all the entries under /usr/share/applications
and related folders there.

But there is still one menu-entry left, called
pgPostgres_Plus_Standard_Server_8_4.

Where it's comming from? I have tried a grep in /usr/share, but no result.

It's not really a problem, but I would like to remove that too.

How can I delete this entry?

Thanks in advance.

Fedora will break things. They're still, in many ways, figuring out
what they are, but they do serve as a test bed, or perhaps development
platform, for various things that aren't ready for prime time.

Not really ...

Redhat 6.0 and hopefully CentOS 6 is a very good OS for a server, no
question. But for me, Fedora is the better OS for a workstation.
Actually I'm still using Fedora 13 and I'm very satisfied with that.

I'm running CentOS 5 on my servers, that's really ok. What I don't like
is, that there are no informations about CentOS 6 on there homepage.
Something like '50% are already done' or so. There is always the
feeling, that the project might be dead. That's not really good i think ...

Was thinking about the Ubuntu Server Edition instead for a while, but I
don't like Ubuntu so much. Don't ask me why: The answer would be a
little bit longer ...

Yes, after an update amavisd and even spamasassin was not working
anymore. There was something wrong with my rpm-based Perl 5.8.8
installation on a Fedora Core 6 machine.

I have tried a long time to fix perl, but I could not find out what's
the problem.

Finally I have disabled the complete perl-folder by renaming it, have
downloaded perl as a sourcefile from perl.org and have made a new
installation of perl. Now everything is working fine.

I have decided to do it in that way because on my other machinen (FC 7)
perl was broken too.

Perhaps you've just found out about DNS caching...

I'm not saying that it certainly is not mrtg, I don't know, but I
could think about a couple of other places where things could go wrong.

I hope someone else can give a more definitive answer but in the mean
time you could try to narrow down the problem area. Some tools will
use the DNS resolver (and return cached data) some will bypass it and
return the new IP address. Maybe a small perl program would do, one
pinging the host one time and thus showing the IP address.

It's a server built on regular desktop hardware, so I will try the
Motherboard Monitor together with the SNMP Informant MBM extension.

Thanks a lot, have never heard about this extension before.

 Subject: [mrtg] LM_SENSORS for Windows?

 Hello,

like I am doing with Linux, I would like to setup a MRTG for a Windows
 2000 Server too.

I thought it can't be a problem. I will change the MIBs/OID in my config
and that's all. But I forget, it's Microsoft

Under Linux I have installed lm_sensors to get the CPU- and Mainboard
temperature and some other stuff, but how can I get it in a Windows
 environment.

Is there something similar to lm_sensors for Windows?

Re: USB Mobile phone + Kannel -- Help

2007-06-04 Thread Guenther Boelter

There is a modem included in your mobile phone, in any mobile phone

If your phone is connected to your computer then your computer is
connected to the modem.

I installed Kannel RPM. Pls see below for installed RPMs.

Kannel: Compatibility

Thank you guys for giving us Kannel, it's really
great!

I will test WAP later, but as a SMSC the Motorola E770v works very well
with Kannel.

Re: Using ttyACM0 as modem

2007-06-03 Thread Guenther Boelter

I have a Motorola E770 and at least with minicom I can connect and I
can use AT commands for that using ttyACM0.

Have you tried a "chmod 666 ttyACM0" already?

 Hi Nasir,

have you tried to open the port with minicom already.
If yes, can minicom detect your modem?
What kind of data connection has that modem, USB?

You should post your output from kannel and you settings, the smsc and
the modem part.

Hello,

I am new here and I have a small problem I can't fix.

I have installed:

PlonePlone 2.1.2,
Zope (Zope 2.8.5-final, python 2.3.4, linux2),
Python 2.3.4 (#1, Feb 2 2005, 12:11:53) [GCC 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat
3.4.2-6.fc3)],

PIL 1.1.4

and it runs well. There is only the problem, that it runs always in
debug-mode.

After starting Zope with ./zopectl fg, I got the message
/opt/zope/client3/bin/runzope -X debug-mode=on and then all these
output from the debugger..

I have tried it with debug-mode off in zope.conf ig, but no effect.

Here is the content of zopectl:

#! /bin/sh

PYTHON=/usr/bin/python2.3
ZOPE_HOME=/opt/zope/zope2.8.5

PYTHONPATH=$SOFTWARE_HOME
export PYTHONPATH INSTANCE_HOME SOFTWARE_HOME

ZDCTL=$SOFTWARE_HOME/Zope2/Startup/zopectl.py

exec $PYTHON $ZDCTL -C $CONFIG_FILE $@

I have tried google for so many hours already, but nothing!

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Just that, from my limited experience of Budgetones, they seem to be

probably no reason not to use them.

Re: [GnomeMeeting-list] Free Your Speech!

2006-01-08 Thread Guenther Boelter

Hello!

I think, this is not a NAT-problem. It sounds like, somebody has blocked
all the ports for H323 and SIP. Skype is working, because Skype is using
Port 80 instead, and they can not block Port 80.

I have tried many combinations of firewall settings and I have not
encountered any real problem with GnomeMeeting. Have you tried something
like nmap [Scan Type(s)] [Options] host or net list to check the ports?

That's a great work, and a good name !

I paid big attention to your blog, and my eyes read :
# New NAT binding refresh technics. Ekiga can now be transparently
reachable behind most NAT implementations (including Linux) without any
port forwarding. I have discussed with Harald Welte from the Netfilter
core team so that the UDP binding time is by default increased for the
Linux kernel, allowing Ekiga to refresh the binding less often

Could you explain it other words or precise it ? Does it mean that
NAT-traversal is more efficient in Ekiga than in gnomemeeting-1.2.x ?
If yes, in what domains ? If no, what do you mean by 'more reachable' ?

(I have been successfully using GM for the last year, but without being
able to be called. In september, I moved to another room where the
NAT is detected as blocked but I can't call who I used to call... The only
software that works here is Skype
which, I must admit it, is perfect in its 2.0 release concerning video
and NAT traversal - except that it's not open source, and reserved to
Windows users. Even MSN (video or simply 'webcam') doesn't work.)

Thanks for your huge work !

[GnomeMeeting-list] I have tested GnomeMeeting 1.9

2006-01-04 Thread Guenther Boelter

Hi guys,

with a little bit help from Damien, yesterday I was able to install
GnomeMeeting v1.9 on two different machines, both with Fedora Core 4,
and here is my personal test result:

The installation was no problem, but you really should remove the old
v1.2.x-installation before.

You have to install all the programs in this order: pwlib - openh323 - opal
- gnomemeeting-opal!

I have installed all programs in the same way:

./configure --prefix=/usr (for pwlib you have to add --enable-plugins
as a second parameter)

make
make install

During the installation a few libs are missing, but these are
standard-libs, well known by yum and easy to install via yum and rpm.

The gnomemeeting-package includes an ./autogen.sh, but it was not working
well, so I've used ./configure instead.

GnomeMeeting v1.9 works very well with H323 und with SIP now. The only problem I have detected is,
if you have more the one SIP-account with the same provider. In this case GnomeMeeting will register only to the
first account in your list.

A big THANK's to Damien, he has done a very great job with GnomeMeeting 1.9.

Re: [Ltsp-discuss] Having trouble with a Dell GX620

2005-10-24 Thread Guenther Boelter

Patrick,

why everybody now has to use Ubuntu? Ubuntu is a nice and colorfull
ditsribution, but Ubuntu is new and Ubuntu still has many bugs. That's
normal for a one year old project but it's the reality?? Try debian,
Fedora, Geento or whatever for the beginning. Later you can change if
you like.

Another problem: I can use 'any' used network-card, but If for example
if somebody before has changed the settings for a 3Com-Card from 100
MBit to 10MB, using the 3Com-Software for that, for Linux in the future
it will be a 10MBit-Card. Linux don't know about the content of the
eeprom of these card. To fix this, you need the 3Com-software.

In your special case, you should first change the card for testing. It's
possible, there is a problem with the driver, a hardware problem with
the pci-bus, an IRQ Problem or whatever. It's possible too, there is a
problem with your network-card. Ether a hardware-problem or a problem
wirh the eeprom-settings. But I don't think, this is a LTSP problem. In
your case for example, what if somebody has changed the clock-rate for
the pci-bus from 66 to 75. Many mainboard have a jumper for this. The
risk is, your system will not be stable anymore. Sometimes it will work,
sometimes not!

Really guys, the LTSP project is great and the software-package is good,
but even for this you can not use 'any' old low cost hardware.

And there is another problem: Nearly all cards I know with a bootprom,
the pxe-loader-software - the one inside the eeprom - is buggy. Low cost
card, Intel or 3Com, it's all the same. I don't use bootproms anymore, I
prefer Etherdisk instead.

Try it out, change the hardware and be patient .

Patrick Keohane wrote:

Hi,

This is probably going to turn out to be a real newby request but here
goes ...

I am having trouble getting a Dell GX620 (ultra small unit) to boot via
PXE.

I am using a Dell GX620 Desktop machine loaded with Fedora Core 4 as the
LTSP Server and can boot an old Dell LS Laptop from it.

I understand that the Dell GX620 range contains the same basic hardware
and therefore assume that the GX620 Desktop and Ultra Small unit contain
the same on-board network card which is the Broadcom 57xx card.

When I try to boot the GX6200 Ultra Small unit it picks up the
pxelinux.0 and loads the kernel image (bzImage-2.6.9-ltsp-3) and the
initrd (initrd-2.6.9-ltsp-3.gz) messages scroll past until the process
stops with the messages:

ERROR! Could not automatically detect the network card.
PCI cards should be detected automatically ...

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

What have I tried:

Well,

1) I have checked what type of network card mod the kernel on the Server
is using and lsmod returns tg3 which I think is the correct driver for
the Broadcom 57xx.

2) I have a copy of the Ubuntu 5.10 install CD and have copied the
initrd and kernel images from it and configured the server to boot the
client from that. It worked!, and starts the install process. By
pressing Ctrl + Alt + F2 on the client (GX620 Ultra Small unit) I get a
shell and have checked what network card mod the kernel is using on the
client (lsmod returns tg3).

I have taken copies of both the Ubuntu 5.10 initrd and the initrd-2.6.9-
ltsp-3.gz unzipped them both and mounted them to check differences. As I
am sure you all know there are some, but the ones that seemed to be
relevant are around the modules.pcimap, modules.alias, and niclist
(there is not one in /etc in the Ubuntu initrd). The tg3.ko files are of
different sizes.

I have tried to bring the modules.pcimap and modules.alias files into
the same state and have copied the Ubuntu tg3.ko file over to the
initrd-2.6.9-ltsp-3 initrd. This was all done in a large number of steps
retesting between mods.

3) I have tried to download and compile both the linux-2.6.12 and
linux-2.6.13 kernels (with and without the Broadcom driver down loaded
from their website) but still get the same problem.

nb: I do get a couple of messages when using the buildk script which I
downloaded as part of the ltsp_initrd_kit. These are:

zipping initrd
running mknbi-linux
mknbi-linux: invalid option --output
ls: /usr/src/ltsp_initrd_kit/vmlinuz-2.6.12: No such file or directory

4) I have tried adding the option option-129 NIC=tg3; line to the
dhcpd.conf file but to no joy.

Can anyone give me any pointers?

Best regards,

Patrick

Re: [Ltsp-discuss] Having trouble with a Dell GX620

2005-10-24 Thread Guenther Boelter

Joe,

I don't have a problem with Ubuntu, but fact is, Ubuntu is new and
Ubuntu still has many bugs.

Specially if it comes to hardware problems, the people should use one of
the standard-distros where they really can find help in the net. Ok,
after that, after the have fixed the problem, they can try the same with
Ubuntu, why not

Now many people will change to Ubuntu plus LTSP. Why? Because the like
to safe money. For many people it looks like, with Ubuntu the can use
any old cheap hardware. But Linux is not Windows. What, if it will not
work right away??? They will not complain about the cheap hardware, the
will complain about Linux and LTSP, because with Windows before, they
don't have problems ...

That's what I mean. And the reason why many people are using Ubuntu now,
it's not because it's working just fine, it's because the good marketing
of the Ubuntu Foundation, like CD-ROMS for free for example

That's normal for a one year old project but it's the reality?? Try
debian, Fedora, Geento or whatever for the beginning. Later you can
change if you like.

As an aside, I think this is a bad idea. I've never used gentoo, but
I've run ltsp on all of the above mentioned distros and ubuntu is by
far the easiest. it's also the most big-free distro I've ever used,
and I've used every fedora since it began to now as well as the most
recent version of debian. The reason so many people are using it now
is that it's working just fine.

[Ltsp-discuss] Sound WebCam for LTSP

2005-10-24 Thread Guenther Boelter

Sorry guys,

I really have checked google.com for days now, but the result until now
is negativ. My problem is, how can I connect a headset and a webcam to
my LTSP-Terminals?

I know, there is a sound-package and sound is a well known problem with
linux. But until now I was not able to fix it. Ether there is no sound
or the sound sounds terrible at the workstation. I've tried ALSA, OSS
and ESD, I've tried to start Skype with 'esd skype', but it's all the
same: terrible or not working! I have tried NASD, the same. And the
result after google.de, all the people have the same problem.

I really like LTSP, but the soundproblem realy should be fixed. I'm a
german and I live in the Philippines since one year now. Here in Davao
City we have arround the 300!!! Cybercafes with arround 3000!!
computers, all with Windows (pirated Windows!) and s many people
would like to change to Linux, but the people here can not live without
Rice, cellphone, Sound and a webCam!

The only think I like to know is, is it possible or not? I know, it's
all for free and so I should not complain. But believe me, I'm not
complaining against LTSP. I'm only angry with the documentation incl.
the wiki if it comes to this point. So many people have these problem,
but it looks like, nobody knows the answer.

So please tell me, is it possible, yes or no? If yes, where can I get
the right informations and why these informations are not a part of the
documentation?

I'm 100% sure, if sound and webcam will work, this will be the next big
step fir the LTSP project. And I am sure too, I am not the only one, who
is interested to get an answer for this question.

Best Regards

2005-10-24 Thread Guenther Boelter
Yes, I've tried MuNAS, but it's not working too, the last supported
kernel is 2.4.22.

It look like the project is about to die, the latest news on there
homepage is from mai 1, 2004.

[Ltsp-discuss] Re: ethernet card detect

2005-10-22 Thread Guenther Boelter

Hi Michel,

are these cards 'onbord'?

If not, add these cards to an existing Linux-machine, boot and wait for
'kudzu',

the Linux hardware probing tool. Kudzu will tell you what it is.
