Bug#668556: ITP: dparser -- a scannerless GLR parser generator

Bug#668967: awn-extras-applets: Please update to 0.4.1~bzr1539
Source: awn-extras-applets Version: 0.4.0-5 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hello: Could this package be updated to 0.4.1~bzr1539 in a similar fashion to avant-window-navigator that got updated to version 0.4.1~bzr830. This would help fix bug 619387 and 648412 since bzr1538 plus the attached DEP-3 quilt patch fixes those issues. Also I had other issues when using awn 0.4.1 with the 0.4.0 applets but I don't remember them anymore since I compiled both packages from upstream bzrr8XX and bzr15XX to fix it last year. Also the dependencies for awn-applets-c-core should probably include gnome-menus since cairo menu tries to read gnome-applications.menu and settings.menu (no longer exists) and does not display the menu while giving these messages: ** (awn-applet:30327): CRITICAL **: gmenu_tree_directory_get_contents: assertion `directory != NULL' failed ** (awn-applet:30327): CRITICAL **: gmenu_tree_item_unref: assertion `item != NULL' failed It could be a Recommends too. The gnome-menus packages currently gets installed via transitivity of recommended packages but it should be depended/recommended directly. Hope this helps, Miguel weather.patch Description: Binary data
Bug#668594:
And especially if first, simple, kvm1.0 variant _does_ show the bad speed already, there's no need to try others, since the prob might be somewhere else entirely: this binary is equivalent to what was in 1.0-8 but rebuilt using current toolchain from wheezy. Interesting. I tried your binaries now and the first kvm1.0 binary you provided me _does_ have the bad performance (~2.3 gbit/s). Returning to the old -8 binary gives full performance again. (I do wonder about Message 36 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=295435#36 and what examples there might be of such broken MUAs...) Probably because it doesn't bring full support for the mboxcl2 format, only a hack to deal with unescaped Froms where there should be none. But that's a wild guess, you should ask upstream. Admittedly, bug #296190 has been fixed, so this is less important. And we do not use sylpheed anymore, thunderbird is so much better. Bug#653802: removal of python2.6 (and removal of zope2.12 for wheezy)
On Sun, Apr 15, 2012 at 08:26:33PM +0200, Matthias Klose wrote: On 15.04.2012 12:46, Mehdi Dogguy wrote: On 04/14/2012 07:39 PM, Matthias Klose wrote: I would like to remove python2.6 for the wheezy release Since python2.6 was the default python interpreter in Squeeze, shouldn't we keep it in Wheezy and remove it from Wheezy+1? (as we did with python2.5) in the past, this wasn't a criteria. Regarding the number of sumported python versions, ftp-master didn't want to have more than two. Now, squeeze did release with 2.5 and 2.6. 3.1 was just the core interpreter and a handful of packages. With wheezy we do have 2.7 and a more complete 3.2, so I don't think having 2.6 has additional value. If your argument is to defend the status quo, fine. But I didn't see a new argument why to keep it. Is there anything incompatible when going from 2.6 to 2.7? Because it does mean that you need to change all scripts in lockstep with the distro upgrade, because 2.7 is not in squeeze and 2.6 is not in wheezy, unless(!) python2.6 from squeeze is still installable in wheezy (i.e. no conflicts etc.). The reason to have two versions of 2.x was to avoid this lockstep, especially as scripts tend to specify their Python versions in the shebang. If an upgrade does not force python2.6 (and the corresponding python2.6 modules) to be uninstalled, I think it's fair to drop it from wheezy. But somehow I'm sceptical, that this is true. Bug#668912: aptitude marks random packages are manually installed.
Hello On 16 April 2012 11:09, dE . de.tec...@gmail.com wrote: There's no specific pattern in which this happens, an aptitude run just for searching a package may mark packages manually installed. How did you determine that 'aptitude search' changed the state, rather than 'update' or 'upgrade'? That sounds indeed strange. There are quite some issues around loosing the mark-auto state, but that's the first case where a simple search can be the reason. Yes and, given that, the whole body of code involved needs to be carefully checked. So, dE, please do not invest too much time trying to diagnose this specific case as it should hopefully be picked up anyway. Unfortunately, this time I couldn't reproduce it at the upgrade, I've an outdated Debian system (4.6) which I'll upgrade to see what happens. Can you please tell me what do you need to upload to prove the bug? Ideally the output of aptitude-create-state-bundle before the problem and then the full typescript of commands needed to reproduce it. Given that your system is since updated this may not be possible any more. As of the current time, aptitude update marks libxine1-xvdr as manually installed. Attaching output of aptitude --simulate search '~i' | grep --invert-match '^i A' before and after update. Check the diffs. To be sure, did you run only 'aptitude update' before the search and not also 'upgrade' or 'install'? Note: the changelog shows that libxine1-xvdr was replaced by libxine2-xvdr on 2012-02-03 – this may be significant here. The problem seems to be at the call to ioctl(fd, FW_CDEV_IOC_GET_INFO, get_info) -- this seems to clobber filename, for some reason. I don't see what is wrong here. Thanks for investigation! Quoting Philipp Kern (pk...@debian.org): Untested concept. Please review the strings. Strings are fine by me. I would appreciate these strings to be marked as belonging to sublevel 6 (as explained this makes my work in tracking everything l10n-related much easier). I will commit myself to push as hard as possible for these strings to be translated for as many languages as possible (at least get them translated for the ~40 languages were translation is 100% for all other D-I strings). The only thing I don't want to do is seeing these strings lead to a language being a candidate for deactivation, hence the move to sublevel 6. As a reminder : languages that are not complete for sublevels 1 and 2 are *candidates* for being dropped (the real decision of dropping them or not will be done on a case by case basis). signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#659362: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the iptables-persistent package
Dear maintainer of iptables-persistent and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the iptables-persistent Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four days, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: cs da de es fr it ja nl pt pt_BR ru sk sv Among these, the following translations are incomplete: none If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the iptables-persistent package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Tuesday, April 24, 2012. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Otherwise the following will happen (or already has): Wednesday, April 11, 2012 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Bug#668394: debian-policy: Spurious virtual packages mp3-encoder/mp3-decoder
Am 15.04.2012 00:24, schrieb Bill Allombert: It would certainly be useful to know why it was added in the first place. The relevant bug reports are #64004, #64006 and #295006. I've read through them. I don't see the point of #64004. It sounds like the OP wanted to suggest adding it as some kind of preparation should lame ever get included in Debian. Well, now it is and it does *not* provide this virtual package. Packages supporting /u/b/lame (i.e. the CLI) should declare a Depends on lame instead - it's that simple. #64006 and #295006 tell a similar story, but I believe the latter one is more significant. I wholeheartly agree with the reasons you give for the reject, being that a virtual package audio-encoder does not add value as long as all the candidates provide different interfaces. If you support /u/b/flac to encode audio to FLAC, declare a Depends on the flac package; if you support /u/b/oggenc to encode to OGG/Vorbis, declare a Depends on the vorbis-tools package. As long as it is not possible to run audio-encoder some_audio.wav on Debian to convert some_audio.wav into the next best audio format, this virtual package makes no sense. This is especially true for mp3-encoder and the exact reason why it should get removed IMHO. - Fabian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#668968: davfs2: NTLM authentication not supported with gnutls
Package: davfs2 Version: 1.4.6-1 Severity: wishlist Bug #533058 switched davfs2 to libneon built using gnutls since there was no difference in doing so and it was a better choice license-wise. However, in newer versions of davfs2, support for NTLM authentication is only available when using libneon linked with openssl. This means I am unable to mount my Sharepoint folders made available via WebDAV, instead seeing the error message Could not authenticate to server: ignored NTLM challenge. Rebuilding davfs2 using libneon27 instead of libneon27-gnutls solves this problem. Please consider switching davfs2 back to use libneon27. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE= (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages davfs2 depends on: ii adduser 3.112+nmu2 add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.11.3-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libneon27-gnutls 0.29.3-3 An HTTP and WebDAV client library davfs2 recommends no packages. davfs2 suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/davfs2/davfs2.conf changed [not included] /etc/davfs2/secrets [Errno 13] Permission denied: u'/etc/davfs2/secrets' -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I agree. OTF files are not better per se. They may support more features but as long as these features are not implemented in the font sources, the OTF files are just as good as the TTF files. - Fabian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#668971: tsdecrypt: leaves alternatives after purge: /usr/bin/tsdecrypt
Package: tsdecrypt Version: 8.0-1 Severity: important User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8: http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails The leftover files are actually alternatives that were installed by the package but have not been properly removed. While there is ongoing discussion how to remove alternatives correctly (see http://bugs.debian.org/71621 for details) the following strategy should work for regular cases: * 'postinst configure' always installs the alternative * 'prerm remove' removes the alternative * 'postrm remove' and 'postrm disappear' remove the alternative In all other cases a maintainer script is invoked (e.g. upgrade, deconfigure) the alternatives are not modified to preserve user configuration. Removing the alternative in 'prerm remove' avoids having a dangling link once the actual file gets removed, but 'prerm remove' is not called in all cases (e.g. deconfigured or disappearing packages) so the postrm must remove the alternative again (update-alternatives gracefully handles removal of non-existing alternatives). Note that the arguments for adding and removing alternatives differ, for removal it's 'update-alternatives --remove name path'. Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release goal since lenny. Bug#653802: removal of python2.6 (and removal of zope2.12 for wheezy)
On 16.04.2012 08:31, Philipp Kern wrote: Is there anything incompatible when going from 2.6 to 2.7? Because it does mean that you need to change all scripts in lockstep with the distro upgrade, because 2.7 is not in squeeze and 2.6 is not in wheezy, unless(!) python2.6 from squeeze is still installable in wheezy (i.e. no conflicts etc.). the core python packages from squeeze should be still installable. The reason to have two versions of 2.x was to avoid this lockstep, No, this never was the reason. You do have this kind of lockstep with e.g. perl as well. Having extensions built for more than one version eases the transition from one version to the next, but the one to 2.7 is completed. especially as scripts tend to specify their Python versions in the shebang. scripts should not hard-code the version specific python interpreter in the shebang. And I'm not aware of packages which explicitly do this. If an upgrade does not force python2.6 (and the corresponding python2.6 modules) to be uninstalled, I think it's fair to drop it from wheezy. But somehow I'm sceptical, that this is true. of course, if an extension is only available for 2.7, and you upgrade to the wheezy version, then it doesn't work anymore with 2.6. so apparently some release maintainer scripts are written in python. Were these tested with 2.7, or even better with 3.1/3.2? you may want to check http://docs.python.org/dev/whatsnew/2.7.html#porting-to-python-2-7 but the transition didn't look as invasive as the one to 2.6. Are you quite sure that your BIOS is actually booting from /dev/sdc? It's possible that it's attempting to boot from an old copy of the GRUB core image installed to a different disk, which then gets confused by the newer modules in /boot/grub/. In this theory, downgrading to 1.99-17 would help because perhaps that core image is ABI-compatible with those modules; the support for non-512-byte sectors in 1.99-19 was probably a core/modules ABI break so this is plausible enough. My standard advice is to install GRUB to all fixed disks ('dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc') unless you have a good reason not to. Bug#653802: Fwd: removal of python2.6 (and removal of zope2.12 for wheezy)
Hello, For Zope itself, there is indeed the issue of Plone. Plone 4 requires Zope 2.12 and Python 2.6, and being able to run Plone 4 on Debian servers easily was the main reason for which we (at Pilot Systems) invested time and energy to have Zope packages, so it would be quite sad to end up not being able to. More generally, I would really like to have the default Python version of release N to be available on release N+1. Python 2.6 is the default Python version on Squeeze, so we have like 100 of servers using Python 2.6 to run various applications. Since Python 2.7 is not available in Squeeze, we can't migrate/test those applications to Python 2.7 in Squeeze, and if Python 2.6 isn't in Wheezy, we won't be able to migrate the OS to Wheezy and then the apps to Python 2.7, which makes the transition quite painful. I'm not sure how common this is, but I'll guess than all hosting providers who use massively Python are in a similar situation than we are, and would really like to have Python 2.6 in Wheezy to smooth the transition (and more generally, the default version of Python in Debian release N to still be available in release N-1). Bug#570069: [gud...@gudjon.org: Re: [comedi] libcomedi0 removed from debian testing]
Hi all, not sure if you have seen it on the mailing list. Graeme has reported a bug in the new libcomedi: I have recently installed the libcomedi0 package from Debian unstable (my distro is Linux Mint Debian Edition) and found a couple of problems. Firstly I couldn't access the comedi device without sudo rights, even after adding myself to the iocard group. It seems that the comedi.rules file must be moved to the /udev/rules.d directory for this to work. Ironically UBUNTU also updated it's libcomedi yesterday but the version 0.8.1-5 and not 0.8.1-6. The iocard/udev stuff still works under UBUNTU precise but no longer under Mint. /Bernd Yaroslav Halchenko wrote: Thank you Christoph for the note -- original announcement I guess have slipped through my mailbox without notice ;) Gudjon, I would be glad (whenever time allows) to sponsor the upload to Debian. Bug#668958: lsb-base: pidofproc doesn't return correct status for daemons without pidfile
tags 668958 +patch thanks Le 16.04.2012 03:48, Adrian Fita a écrit : Hi. I noticed that /etc/init.d/hddtemp status wasn't returning the correct status when the daemon was running. hddtemp daemon doesn't create a pidfile when started, so I tracked the problem back to the pidofproc function from /lib/lsb/init-functions. Hi Adrian, and thanks for your bugreport, as far as I can see, this behaviour has been broken by my fix for #664621: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/lsb.git;a=commitdiff;h=23c14db Basically I put the section with if [ -x /bin/pidof ] [ ! $specified ]; then before the section with base=${1##*/}. Now the function is corectly detecting the pids and /etc/init.d/hddtemp status gives the right information. Please check the attached patch. I also tested the other daemons on my system, both with pidfiles and without and all seem to work fine. This patch (besides being reversed) makes all pidofproc with unspecified pidfile name calls call /bin/pidof, which is undesired IMHO. I propose the attached patch, that only resorts to calling /bin/pidof when the pidfile is provably inexistant and when it wasn't specified at first. Can you please test it and report back? severity 668794 important forwarded 668794 http://code.google.com/p/go/issues/detail?id=3533 thank you Hi Robert, (sorry for BTS juggling, I found your comment just after I sent the first email.) Anyway I agree that the problem needs to be fixed upstream, but I would suggest that we keep GNU/KFreeBSD build enabled for the moment and if this cannot be fixed before freeze, we can always disable it. It would be shame to disable this build right now, because there would be basically no push to make it work (if there is more stuff broken than just the tests). Thus I am downgrading the severity to important, so it doesn't block transition, and will take care of GNU/KFreeBSD builds somewhere around June. Is that ok with you? Ondrej On Mon, Apr 16, 2012 at 00:04, Robert Millan r...@debian.org wrote: found 668794 2:1-4 thanks Hi Ondřej, I notice you disabled the golang testsuite because it hangs on GNU/kFreeBSD. However, the problem is still present, and chances are it makes golang unusable on that platform. I gave the source a look, and it seems that on GNU/kFreeBSD golang is playing with thread primitives, bypassing libc. For example it invokes thr_new() kernel call directly, and also calls sigprocmask() to reset the signal mask in code that is clearly multithreaded [1]. This means that either golang intends to completely replace libpthread, or it intends to play along with existing libpthread. I'm not sure which one applies here, but in both cases there is a problem that needs to be fixed in golang. So please don't disable the testsuite. If golang can't be built on GNU/kFreeBSD, unless you know it's a bug in the system libraries the problem needs to be fixed in golang. If nobody can spend the time to fix it here, then you should consider not providing the package for kfreebsd-*. Bug#668982: cmake does not allow generating of module (shared lib without SONAME)
Package: cmake Version: 2.8.5-1~bpo60+1 Severity: normal Currently cmake does not allow generation of python module. Python module as per policy should not have a SONAME. Currently it leads to warnings during dpkg-shlibs steps: binary contains an unresolvable reference to symbol sym ref: The indicated symbol has not been found in the libraries linked with the binary. The binary is most likely a plugin and the sym- bol is probably provided by the program that loads this plugin. In theory a plugin doesn't have any SONAME but this binary does have one and as such it could not be clearly identified as such. However the fact that the binary is stored in a non-public directory is a strong indication that's it's not a normal shared library. If the binary is really a plugin, then disregard this warning. But there's always the possibility that it's a real library and that programs linking to it are using an RPATH so that the dynamic loader finds it. In that case, the library is broken and needs to be fixed. Posted on the mailing list: http://www.cmake.org/pipermail/cmake/2012-April/049874.html There does not appear to be any tool to remove SONAME (post generation) either: http://www.cmake.org/pipermail/cmake/2012-April/049889.html Thanks -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (200, 'testing'), (100, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cmake depends on: ii cmake-data 2.8.5-1~bpo60+1 CMake data files (modules, templat ii libarchive1 2.8.4-1 Single library to read/write tar, ii libc6 2.11.2-10Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.21.0-2 Multi-protocol file transfer libra ii libexpat1 2.0.1-7 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.4.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libxmlrpc-c31.06.27-1.1 A lightweight RPC library based on ii procps 1:3.2.8-9/proc file system utilities ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime cmake recommends no packages. Bug#665046: qemu-kvm: bad network performance using vhost and macvtap

Macvtap performance has always been awful from the ground up, but this is due to kernel not qemu. Reportedly it become a bit better with latest kernels but I haven't checked. At any rate using macvtap isn't a good idea at this stage. Another user encountered a similar issue, but this time, his qemu-kvm is about 10 times slower in bridged mode, and again, 1.0+dfsg-8 works okay for him. I wonder if this is the same issue... Bug#668993: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0: Font rendering corruption?
Package: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 Version: 2.26.0-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I am experiencing some serious font rendering issues. I am not entirely sure whether this is the correct package, but since libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 is a common dependency for all of the applications where I experience the issue, this is my best guess. Here is a screenshot where the issue is visible: https://wensveen.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/screenshot-from-2012-04-16-085408.png Usually the problems begin when I open my GMAIL in iceweasel, but the same happens with epiphany. Text is illegible and while moving the mouse cursor around (on redraws caused by css, probably) or scrolling, other text becomes illegible too, but some text turns normal. When this happens, other text in applications like gnome-terminal get garbled as well, as is visible in the screenshot. Sometimes, window titles are affected as well. However, text in Qt applications (such as konqueror) are not affected. Nor is text in java applications (such as PS3 Media Server). Unfortunately I can't pinpoint the moment when this started happening, but I think this has been happening for at least a month. At first I thought it had something to do with the video driver (xserver-xorg-video-radeon), but since only GNOME applications are affected, I ruled this possibility out (or at least highly improbable). Please let me know if you need any further information. Bug#668995: Fix the fix for the way the permissions are set in /var/spool/sympa and /var/lib/sympa
Package: sympa Version: 6.1.9-chris3 Severity: important Tags: patch The fix for bug #630384 also changed the way ownership of these directories is set. While the find command used for changing permissions is fine, the command used to change ownerships is missing essential parenthesis. This omission results in the ownership of /var/spool/sympa and /var/lib/sympa not actually being set, causing various errors when sympa is started and package installation to fail. Bug#668794: reopen
Hi Ondřej, Thanks for forwarding this upstream. It seems to me that it'll be best to get them involved. It takes either someone with a clear idea of golang codebase or a complete audit to properly resolve this. And we don't have time for a complete audit :-( El 16 d’abril de 2012 10:29, Ondřej Surý ond...@sury.org ha escrit: Anyway I agree that the problem needs to be fixed upstream, but I would suggest that we keep GNU/KFreeBSD build enabled for the moment and if this cannot be fixed before freeze, we can always disable it. I'm worried that other packages could begin depending on golang on kfreebsd-*, and then it can be a mess if we have to pull it off. But I understand your interest in providing it. Bug#668997: bup: breaks if PYTHONOPTIMIZE is set
Package: bup Version: 0.17b-2squeeze1 Severity: important bup uses the Python assert statement for regular operations, not just for additional sanity checks that go beyond what should be done during normal operation (i.e. debugging assertions). Python disables assert when running in optimised mode [1,2], e.g. by running with -O [3] or setting the PYTHONOPTIMIZE environment variable [4]. One effect is that bup join does not work at all: {{{ sascha.silbe@twin:~$ bup join -r /media/bup-encfs-plain xo15-sascha-home bup server: reading from stdin. bup server: command: 'set-dir /media/bup-encfs-plain' bup server: bupdir is '/media/bup-encfs-plain' bup server: command: 'list-indexes' bup server: command: 'cat xo15-sascha-home' Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/lib/bup/cmd/bup-server, line 183, in module cmd(conn, rest) File /usr/lib/bup/cmd/bup-server, line 132, in cat for blob in cat_pipe.join(id): File /usr/lib/bup/bup/git.py, line 907, in join for d in self._join(self.get(id)): File /usr/lib/bup/bup/git.py, line 894, in _join for blob in self.join(treeline[5:]): File /usr/lib/bup/bup/git.py, line 907, in join for d in self._join(self.get(id)): File /usr/lib/bup/bup/git.py, line 882, in _join type = it.next() File /usr/lib/bup/bup/git.py, line 852, in _fast_get raise GitError('expected blob, got %r' % spl) bup.git.GitError: expected blob, got ['\n'] Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/lib/bup/cmd/bup-join, line 31, in module for blob in cat(id): File /usr/lib/bup/bup/client.py, line 215, in cat sz = struct.unpack('!I', self.conn.read(4))[0] struct.error: unpack requires a string argument of length 4 Exception bup.client.ClientError: ClientError('server tunnel returned exit code 1',) in bound method Client.__del__ of bup.client.Client instance at 0x1f425f0 ignored }}} It's possible that it silently breaks during backup in ways that will only get noticed when one actually tries to restore the backup, so I've raised the priority to important. I haven't audited the code to check whether any code path used during backup stages actually uses assert with operations that have side effects, so feel free to lower the priority if you're sure it can't silently corrupt data if run in optimise mode. Bug#432701: Some inconsistencies in pam configuration...
reassign 432701 postgresql-common retitle 432701 postgresql-common should provide /etc/pam.d/postgresql thanks Re: Marco Gaiarin 2007-07-11 2007070306.gx6...@sv.lnf.it Package: postgresql-8.1 Version: 8.1.8-1 I've configured a server as a Samba primary domain controller, using ldap as backend. Pure etch. I've setup nss and pam using the debian wiki: http://wiki.debian.org/NSSLDAPSetup shortly: pam_unix module in debian are nss-enabled, so normally there's no need to setup PAM, but only nss. But for postgres i was forced to wrote down a /etc/pam.d/postgresql with inside: authrequiredpam_ldap.so account requiredpam_ldap.so particulary the 'account' stanza are required, and this is not needed for evey other services (ssh, dovecod, ...) on the same server. The other services already ship a working pam.d file, so the problem here seems to be that postgresql doesn't do that. The solution here might be to ship /etc/pam.d/postgresql in postgresql-common. Otoh, there is an other file that should take care of pam entries in pg_hba.conf. pam auth works here without the extra file, but it might make sense to provide it anyway. I'll do some research and report back here. Seems that postgres use pam in a rather different way from other services, i don't know if this descend of having postgres not running as root, and i don't know if this is curable. But i think at least a row in README.Debian can be added. Christoph -- c...@df7cb.de | http://www.df7cb.de/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#651402: Symbols in iulib
* Jeffrey Ratcliffe jeffrey.ratcli...@gmail.com, 2012-04-15, 11:58: You seem to be distinguishing between functions declared as inline, and those inlined by the compiler. My understanding that the compiler was under no obligation to follow the inline directive, and I don't see an easy way to check when functions have been inlined or not. What really matters is that a function is _declared_ inline or not. Symbols for functions declared inline could dissapear at any time without constituting ABI breakage (AFAIUI). Taking an example - this symbol has disappeared and is not marked as optional: - _ZN5iulib11ChainTracer9nextpixelEv@Base 0.4.4 It is a function in a struct. I assume it should be optional. A member function that is declared within the class body is considered as declared inline.[0] So yes, this one should be marked optional. Can you explain? I hope it makes things clear. But anyway, if you don't beat me to it, I'll tidy up iulib myself on the next weekend.
