The admin console is on port 8004. Port is the work port for the
service and what you are seeing is what is expected with a browser connect
to this port.

[IMail Forum] Requiring Authentication of local email clients

2005-06-13 Thread Gil Gomes
I've gone through the archives and can't find the exact answer to a
specific question, so... here goes...

We're a fairly small company with 150 email clients located in this
building. I'd like to force authentication from our clients. We currently
have Relay mail for: set to our internal IP range (192.168.3.0) under SMTP
Security. If you click on the Addresses TAB under SMTP security, you can
see where this IP range is set as well as a checkbox that states Skip
AntiSpam Filters This selection is checked...

From what I can ascertain, the only way to force authentication for
these local users is to set SMTP security to No Mail Relay. If I do so,
will this also force all of the local users' outgoing email through the
AntiSpam Filters?

Thanx for any help...

Gil Gomes

[IMail Forum] Web service crashing - IMail 8.15 HF 2

2005-06-13 Thread Scott Wolf

Every time I start
the IMail web service, it crashes again almost immediately. The only error
message that I can find in my Event Log is:

"The IMail Web
Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No
action"

I'm also getting
errors with SMTPD32.exe that say:

"The IMail Web
Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s).
The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No
action"

which is immediately
followed by about 800 copies of SMTPD32.exe becoming memory resident. Has
anyone encountered something like this? Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!

[IMail Forum] Corrupted emails with Attachments even after hotfix 2

Good Monday morning to you all,

emails that have attachments after running hotfix 2 on 8.2 but It almost seems
that it is even worse. Is anyone else seeing this even after running 8.2
Hotfix 2?Anton

I had
that problem a looong time ago but with 8.12. Everything was fine via webmail
but not when it got popped into our Outlook (images, word docs, pdf files -
everything - would get corrupted). It turned out that we needed to change our
pop/smtp settings in Outlookto the machine's network IP address rather
than mail.mydomain.com - we were looping and evidently that was the problem.
Ever since I have made that change, I have not had any problems.

[IMail Forum] Postfix/Courier/Squirrel mail tips + tricks

2005-06-13 Thread Shaun Mickey

I have postfix, Popper, and Horde IMP, solid combination, have had it
running for almost a year now, not one single hour have I been down. I
went down for 15 min once when my hosting company had a power issue, but
other than that ~250 days uptime. No problems with viruses or spam when
integrated with amavisd (clamav and spamassassin), and a full MySQL
backend with web custom web account manager with domain administration,
full privilege structure and everything.

Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you want some info on my setup.

I have that POC code compiled now. If you want the exe, just drop me a
line. It's very simple to test the DoS part. And you just need to
setup a netcat session to test the reverse shell part. The exe is about
512K.

I can assure you that 8.05 is vulnerable. But the reverse shell does
not work on w2k sp4, which is all documented in the code. But that
doesn't mean someone won't find a way to fix that.

On Monday I will begin my process of moving to postfix/Courier/squirrel

hear them :)

If you are using in-house DNS you can set
up your email server address and DNS forwarding for internet traffic.

In other words

DNS server has A record domain.com

An MX record of mail.domain.com 10.x.x.x (or what ever
your internal email server ip is)

Properties of your DNS server will allow
you to forward all traffic that is not on the local LAN out to the router and
through the fire wall.

We are set up with a router firewall
router because of our WAN traffic (all point to point frames) Everything has
worked fine after the patch, no reported issues, and we did a lot of testing
after the patch.

You may want to just do a complete
reinstall. Back up your mailboxes and uninstall Imail and reinstall it. Dont
for get about your registry either.

Im not sure about this or not but
check and see if SMTP for windows is installed if you installed IIS. You
can either uninstall it in add/remove programs or just disable it in IIS or
stop the service from running in services.

You only want the one for Imail running.

Just a thought not sure if it will fix the

Subject: [IMail Forum] Web service
crashing - IMail 8.15 HF 2

Every time I start the IMail web service, it crashes again
almost immediately. The only error message that I can find in my Event
Log is:

The IMail Web Service service terminated
unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s). The following corrective
action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action

I'm also getting errors with SMTPD32.exe that say:

The IMail Web Service service terminated
unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s). The following corrective
action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action

which is immediately followed by about 800 copies of
SMTPD32.exe becoming memory resident. Has anyone encountered something
like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

2005-06-13 Thread Scott Wolf

No, IIS isn't even installed on the machine in
question. There were a couple of suggested registry hacks that I found in
the archive with Microsoft's "Mystery Heap", but those didn't seem to fix the
problem either. I've done a re-install of the mail server software and
that also seems to have no effect.

Im not sure about this
or not but check and see if SMTP for windows is installed if you installed
IIS. You can either uninstall it in add/remove programs or just disable it
in IIS or stop the service from running in services.

You only want the one
for Imail running.

Just a thought not sure
if it will fix the problem

I apologize, the error
message I'm getting for SMTPD32.exe is:

"Application popup:
smtpd32.exe - Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Title: Message

Are
you sure that your machine isnot SMTP relaying excessively, and running
the WEB messaging service out of resources? Also, excessive disk frag can
cause these symptoms as well.

[IMail Forum] Blackberry

2005-06-13 Thread Doug Zagha
A few weeks ago I set up a few people in my company with Blackberry's. I had
the Blackberry Internet Service connecting to my server on Port 143.
Everything worked perfectly until Sunday night when we all stopped recieveing
messages on our handelds. I checked the logs and I see the blackberry server
connecting. Here is a copy of the log...

06:14 00:04 IMAP4 (0DD0) logon success for doug pop.inn-phone.com from
206.51.26.161
06:14 00:04 IMAP4 (0dd0) connection aborted

I can't figure out why it's aborting the connection. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. FYI Blackberry connects through POP3 with no problems.

Regards,

Doug
