Tyler,

They very likely have some sort of peering arrangement set up, which would
speed up routing of mail. It is also quite possible that these ISPs
whitelist each other's known IP blocks, which would speed-up delivery by
giving them less tests to run. Add that to the fact that they are most
likely pulling the IP addresses of large ISPs out of their cache, rather
than having to do individual lookups for small ISPs, and you can see why the
big guys get what seems like preferential treatment.

I know it has been discussed many times before and we all know hotmail and
msn are terrible but why is it that I can deliver a message to my hotmail
account using yahoo or EarthLink and it shows up in 2 seconds but I can't
get it delivered through my Imail? Heck even dnsreports.com has had a hard
time connecting their email servers all day long. I am probably being
ignorant and there is preferential treatment for the big ISPs and email
services??

Oh well, how is that 2006 going?

Re: [IMail Forum] Imail 2006 Web Client

2005-11-30 Thread Ted Nichols

The problem is most likely that .Net 1.1 was not
registered thus .NET requests were not beingsent tothe
aspnet_isapi.dll for processing (resulting in the text of the code being
displayed rather than executed)

aspnet_regiis -s W3SVC/web service
number/ROOT/virtual app directory name As noted
below, this command will register .NET for the virtual directory, and
should fix the problem.

Installing .NET 2.0 will also register .NET, however some caution should be
used. Web client was written in .NET 1.1. If .NET 1.1 is not installed, the web
client will not function properly if it functions at all. .NET 2.0 can also be
installed, but if only 2.0 is installed, web client will most likely
notfunction.

As I mentioned, you may have to reload .NET on
the IMail virtual web. If a website is stopped when you install .NET, or
a new virtual web is added, .NET may not be installed on that virtual

Install .NET on the virtual web by command line

Hi All,

I have just installed Imail 2006 onto a test server (W2k Sp 4, IIS5),

%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="Default.aspx.cs"
ValidateRequest="false" AutoEventWireup="false"
Inherits="Ipswitch.Web.Client._Default" %

Is this an IIS5 issue with mime types, or an Imail Issue.

[IMail Forum] OT: Server Build

2005-11-30 Thread Kevin Rogers

I'm building a new server that primary runs the following:

Windows Server 2003
Imail 2006 (approx 15,000 emails/day - 450 users)
SQL Server 2000 for my Imail DB
WorkgroupShare running SQL Server (approx 50 users for now - which uses
a LOT of RAM I've noticed - could increase to a few hundred)

Declude AV/Hi/Spam
Hosts a few websites with minimal hits/day

I'm wondering which platform I should use (AMD vs. Intel) and which
mobo/cpu/RAM is right for me.

It should have RAID 1 (2 drives)
Could care less about video.
Good networking stability
Would like SATA2

Budget (including software) about $3K.

I've been researching, but would like to know what this list thinks.

Thanks.

Kevin

There has been no change on the host regarding DNS blacklists and/or Trusted

Tried:
Restarting SMTP, QUEUE - no change
Rebooting server - no change

I'm running Imail 8.20 with Antispam/Antivirus.

Has anyone ever encountered similar issues??

Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

RE: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???

2005-11-30 Thread Kevin Gillis
Hi Pip and Jeffrey,

You are both correct...

Last year, when Ipswitch started shipping ICS, we stopped selling IMail
Professional altogether (new and Service Agreements were both discontinues).
About one month after ICS shipped, we reinstated IMail Service Agreements
but not IMail for new customers. So existing IMail customers could renew
via a Service Agreement but customers looking to buy a new IMail standalone
server or existing customers looking to purchase additional IMail licenses
were not able to.

With the changes announced yesterday, customers can now buy IMail Server
(comes with the new web admin and web templates) at 5 user levels and IMail
Service Agreements at 5 users levels.

Hope this helps.

bye for now,

kg

their sales force over and over again. Before or shortly after the release
of ICS they allowed you to just get the stand alone server. I don't rember
them not selling the ICS alone as to many people complained about not
wanting the ICS package just the stand alon mail server.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail is standalone again???

Back when Ipswitch made the less than wise decision suspend IMail as a
standalone product, I swore them off and never really spent much time
worrying about what they offered. As a matter of fact, I sort of forgot
about them. I see they now are offering it again? Could this be true?

Re: [IMail Forum] 2006 test: importing NT users

2005-11-30 Thread Ted Nichols

Imail can use an external Active Directory db for
Authentication (as of Imail 8.21) To do this in 2006 do the following. (This is
from the online help for Imail 2006)

Setting Permissions to Administer a Remote Windows NT Database from IMail
Administrator
When you use a remote Windows NT Database for user mail accounts and
authentication, you need to clear the Anonymous
access option for the IMail Administrator virtual directory located in
the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. This setting lets the IMail
administrator log in as a domain administrator and query the remote NT server so
they are visible in the IMail Web Administrator user list.
Important: Make sure that the
IMail administrator has domain admin privileges on the remote server that runs
the Windows NT Database. Anonymous access should only be removed from the IIS
IMail directory in this special case of managing IMail users from a remote
Windows NT Database.
Note: The following settings are
only required when you access the Windows NT Database on a remote server. If you
are accessing the Windows NT Database on the same server as the IMail Server,
the following configuration change is not required.
To configure IMail Administrator virtual directory for
Anonymous access in IIS:

  Click Start Programs Administrative
  Tools Internet Information Services.
The Internet Information Services Manager appears.

Click + next to Web Sites. The Web Sites folders expand.

Click + next to Default Web Site. The Web Sites folder expands.

Right click IAdmin. The ICSWebAdmin Properties
  dialog box appears.

  Click the Directory Security
tab, then click Edit. The Authentication Methods
  dialog box appears.

  Click to clear the Anonymous
  access option.

  Make sure that the Integrated
  Windows authentication option is selected.

Click OK to exit the dialog
  boxes.

Make sure that the IMail administrator has domain
administrative privileges for the domain that the remote server is on.

  This KB article
states that IMail must be installed on a DC and I don't know of anything
in2006 that has changed this requirement.

  The link on that
page for V8.2 User Guide confirms it.

  Can anyone help me
  out on this one...

  I am trying to
make life easier on myself and allow iMail to user our Active Directory
database for email accounts. I have 2006 installed for beta testing, so
fat for NT users it only sees any local windowsaccounts I have
setup. Do I need to install iMail on my domain server to see the domain
users(I wouldn't think so)? Am I on the right path for expectations
  here?

  thanks,

[IMail Forum] Imail 2006 Web messaging service

2005-11-30 Thread Mark Gordon
In the list of service administration, web messaging is not an option.
How would one configure timeouts for the web client interface?
