Re: [videoblogging] Mpeg/Flash questions
around the 11/6/07 Jay dedman mentioned about [videoblogging] Mpeg/Flash questions that: I'm looking for a proof of concept and need someone experienced in both MPEG and Flash. Specifically, I want to learn how to have an MPEG video make an http: call to retrieve an external graphic. For example, pulling something like this - http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gifhttp://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif - dynamically (i.e. from the client viewing the video), not embedding it. Once this works, the next step is to learn how to convert the media to Flash and have the same experience (i.e. retrieve image via HTTP, etc) this is easy to do in QT, for example using LiveStage Pro (which is now I think vapourware but some of us still have working copies). in QT you would do it via XmL, the movie would call in an XML file, it can contain whatever - in your case the url of a graphic - and you would map a sprite to that value: the sprite retrieves the graphic and displays it. If you needed you could also resize the sprite based on width/height of the graphic. don't have a clue how to do it in flash :-) btw, a master's student of mine (David Wolf) made a work that loads jgs from flickr some time ago. The link to the work seems broken, but the third work does much the same thing: URL: http://dpwolf.net/blogarchive/000271.html and URL: http://dpwolf.net/blogarchive/000272.html -- cheers Adrian Miles this email is bloggable [ ] ask first [ ] private [x] vogmae.net.au [official compliance stuff:] CRICOS provider code: 00122A

[videoblogging] White House Opposes Shield Law Effort...Bloggers Included
Here's an article about the Bush Administration's continued opposition to a bill to shield reporters from federal efforts to force them to reveal their sources. The sponsors revised several items to attempt to make it more palatable, but so far, no go. Of special interest: Brand added that the bill's broad definition of who is a journalist includes bloggers and thus would pose significant problems for federal investigators. Anyone who does not want to cooperate with prosecutors could post information on the Internet and claim to be covered by the media shield, she said. Does this include videoblogging? If you put a video on YouTube are you officially a journalist in the eyes of the law? Or are you exempt from official journalist status if you're videos feature dancing/sleeping animals? [videoblogging] video posts in Blogger, how to present *lots* of video thumbnails?
I am using Blogger for a video-blog: http://trophykart.blogspot.com For each post I want to display a bunch of video-frame stills (320x180), there are often LOTS. This is to show some highlights of the video, to get the user to view the video. Right now, I have the clickable videos at the top..followed by a long list of stills. It makes each post look long, the entire blog looks drawn out. Has anyone had a similar situation, what is your solution? I thought of the following to try to condense the long list of stills: - Flash player to display the stills - 2D matrix presentation I would make the stills smaller (160x90), present them 2 per row (2D matrix) Anyone know of any reliable Blogger plug-ins to do this? Thanks for any suggestions. BY

Twiistup 2 is going to be on August 8, 2007 in Venice, California. Since it was really hot at the first one, we're having this one at a place called 'Air Conditioned Supper Club.' We've established climate control! Another big change is that we're replacing onstage demos with viral videos. The videos will play in the club without disrupting the party, er, networking. We'll continue to have showoffs with tables, swag, etc. Consider Twiistup 2 as the launchpad for these videos that will have a life of their own after the party. CONTEST: Create a Viral Video In addition to the showoff videos that will be on Twiistup.com, we want to showcase some videos from our Twiistup community. They can be about software/website/hardware that you're working on or about something that you're a big fan of. For example, I'm a big fan of 37 Signals so I may decide to do a video about some of their products. Here's some pointers.. - keep it to around 30-40 seconds long - don't try and convey too much detail - be engaging (stay away from too many screen captures) - don't over produce - keep it low budget, or no budget! - needs to capture the viewers attention in the first couple of seconds - be original - work in Twiistup for extra points We'll pick winners for these categories: 1. Originality 2. Humor 3. Musical 4. Geekiness 5. Best shameless Twiistup plug 6. Best overall video Winners will receive - VIP treatment at Twiistup 2 in Venice, CA (2 free tickets, valet parking and drinks) - Video showcased on Twiistup.com and at Twiistup 2 - Future movie deal (kidding) Best overall video winner receives an Apple iPhone Send your videos to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] no later than June 29th / Winners will be announced at Twiistup 2 One more thing, tickets for Twiistup 2 will be available on June 19, 2007 Stay Tuned, The Twiistup Team --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Twiistup group. Well...First of all, the simple fact that you're using a bunch of still captures from the video poses a problem in and of itself. What you need to do instead is do what practically every vlogger here does. Just use ONE. You can have it skinned by capturing the Quicktime window (Most people prefer that program for some odd reason) or it can be skinless by not having borders (This makes it look like an ordinary picture). Alternatively I thought of the following to try to condense the long list of stills: - Flash player to display the stills If you're going to go the Flash route, why not just simply post the video to LiveVideo or Google Video and just the embedded player in your post instead? (BTW Blogger has now been integrated with Google Video. Check out the announcement @ http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com/2007/06/introducing-blogger-in-draft.html for more info). This way (At least with the Google Video skinned player), you already have a screen capture WITHOUT having to do a thing besides upload your video to Google Video (Or LiveVideo or whoever you go with) copy and paste some code into your post. - 2D matrix presentation I would make the stills smaller (160x90), present them 2 per row (2D matrix) Why put yourself through the unneccessary hassle? Anyone know of any reliable Blogger plug-ins to do this? UhhIn an emphatic wordNO!
