Agreed. I stayed there two years ago (can't beat $16/night!), it's okay,
as long as you don't expect much more than a bed and an 'interesting'
view. However, when someone that lives 5-10 minutes walking distance
away insists on driving you home at night, you know that it can be a
slightly dodgy area. I didn't have any problems though.

Personally, I would recommend out-of-towners to rent a car, you're gonna
need one in Detroit (Motor City...duh). That way you can stay in cheaper
places and also not be dependent on other modes of transport.

Basically the best option is to use Linda G's Techno Tourist Travel
Agency :) and stay at the St. Regis: comfortable, central and cheap at
$69/night.

Plus good greasy grub in the diner around the corner from the
Shorecrest, which is a priority the morning after :)

BTW, speaking of 313-list event: I remember the audiofiles were going to
be put up at Hyperreal. Did that happen and did I miss the URL or is it
still in the pipeline?
