blair: many of today's pop musicians don't have the reverence for the 808 and other classic gear like those on a list such as this might have. so, when an 808's sounds do make it into one of today's pop songs, it is likely "just another drum sample", nothing special, to the person using it ie just one of many drum sounds in a sampler, sampler disc, cdr, etc. they might be using an 808 in some way and not even realize it or even care. andrew duke
