I've always associated hard house with towards-ghetto Chicago house, ala the
less tech-y relief stuff. Perfect example in my mind would be DJ Elin's Mad
Cow. Hard house would be ghetto, but minus the ghetto accoutrements (yet
another French misspelling I suppose).

For what it's worth, DJ Groove in Chicago was explaining to me that this
term doesn't sit too well with a lot of the Chicago DJs who once spun that
style of record. Many of them are moving to different styles/labels for
those styles these days as less people make that type of music. But then
again, this is just one cat in Iowa citing one cat in Chicago from a vague
memory, and I don't follow harder house religiously enough anymore to be an
authority on the subject. What do I know?
