'Landcruising' is a must if you're a Craig fan. Designed to be listened to
while driving, the linernotes describe it as "An original soundtrack
composed and produced by Carl Craig." When released in 95, several critics
observed that Tangerine Dream's soundtrack to 'The Thief' appeared to
be an influence, especially on the guitar-driven opener, "Mind of a
Machine." Overall, it's an album which comes close to being great in its
quest for the sublime essence of techno soul. There's a lovely melancholy
vibe (think "Domina") that kicks in with "A Wonderful Life" and never
quite goes away.

If you get the chance, pick up the remix ep of the title track,
"Landcruising," which explores variations on this drum-looped epic. The
Kenny Larkin remix is brilliant and there are 4 other versions: "From the
Top (edit); "In Touch With My Psyche"; "A Break for You"; and "Flight
Through the Unknown." It's still floating around, here in T.O., anyway.

Cheers,
Wes
