I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned this yet but 'Jaguar' debuted at
number 43 in the UK pop chart on sunday, much much lower than I personally
expected. Anyone got any thoughts on why?

Maybe the fact that the release date was put back a week had something to do
with it? (It was originally scheduled for Oct 3rd, then went back to Oct
9th)

Another possible reason might be that the promotion wasn't adequate. For
example, it was handled in the UK by a company called Sainted PR, who,
whilst a big music PR company, aren't exactly known for their techno
activities - they usually do guitar bands and dance pop etc. My man Jonas
Stone at Phuture Trax did the UR party a couple of years back, and does all
the Tresor and Mills releases etc, so I (and he, actually) would have
thought he should have been the obvious choice. Apparently Sainted got it as
a result of the distribution deal 430 West/UR hooked up. Mind you, there
have been plenty of Rolando interviews in the last crop of music mags her,
so...

Also, there was no real advertising to speak of. Azzido Da Bass 'Doom's
Night' was also released last week and that has entered the chart at about
number 6. The difference is that they have a massive promotional campaign
behind them - Nottingham, where I live, is covered with flyposters, just as
it was for the release of Zombie Nation's 'Kernkraft 400'.

Anyone got any thoughts on this? Whatever, I guess it's unlikely ot go much
higher. Records don't tend to climb the chart slowly these days like they
used to. Instead they tend to enter, then slide downwards.
