Here, mostly lurking, probably heading to Detroit for the festival next year after defecting to Mutek this year out of curiosity (ugh, mistake!). Still dream of seeing The Black Dog do a live PA after going bonkers the first time I heard Spanners, but I'll need more than a fortnight's notice to make arrangements to get to Sheffield from Dallas.
But nothing compares to Drexciya and Model 500. Actually, the first time I heard Juan play Night Drive live, I wept from sheer joy. Same with Derrick and Strings of Life. Of course, I've debated hitting up Movement Torino as well - not to derail this "hi everybody" check-in, but has anyone here done that round of the festival? Nothing compares to Detroit, of course; it's just that like everyone else on this list, I'm getting older, and I want to cram in as many techno tourist adventures as I can before I go deaf and my knees wear out. :) I've been off and on Hyperreal in some way or other since... I'm guessing 1995 or 96? I subbed to this list a few years back and haven't regretted it. *waves to Denise, Frank, Kevin, etc.* There's a few heads here keeping up the Dallas Techno scene, but it's literally a handful of married dudes, some Denton college kids (Cygnus, BetDat, Ynfynyt Scroll), Minto (Down Low) driving back and forth from Wichita Falls, Gerard Hansen (Convextion) and Wanz Dover (Blixaboy) busting out the occasional Laptop Deathmatch show. Me? I'm just a fan, not a musician, DJ or producer. I enjoy dancing; techno's the fuel, my body's just the engine.
