My mail about dodgy mixing was not directly related to the UR DJ's or UR party, it was just a general impression I have after 10 years of visiting parties and listening to tapes and mixes. Also, Ken Ishii was just an example I gave. When I saw him, way back in 97, just when he had started earning a (well deserved) name as producer, he just couldn't mix. The fact that he has become a good DJ now (would be sad if he hadn't after three years...) does not change the point I was trying to make: great producers often start DJ'ing to make good money just when they are not ready to give a good DJ performance. It is their right to capitalize on their producing success, but I feel ripped-off when some big name turns out to be a crappy DJ, and sadly it happens all the time.
