metro area 3 is an amazing record, no-one else out there is making music
like morgan geist and his crew - definitely unique. love the '80s retro feel
to it. however, i'm sceptical about the latest daniel wang offering. the
statement on the record that no samples were used in its making doesn't
automatically mean it is better than sample-based offerings. a friend mine
thought it could be described as cheesy carbaret house. the record's quirky
sound means it will stand out from the current crop of deep house, but
whether in 3 or 4 years time i'll still be listening to it is debatable,
have doubts whether ot not it has longevity. it's no hi-tech jazz.
