however, if a DJ has proved that he/she can carry a live mix (such as
hawtin, sasha, digweed, etc), I dont see a problem with a mix being touched
up with pro-tools, especially as these CDs are mass produced and the artist
in question I'm sure wants a "perfect" mix for the consumers purchasing it.

Thats a big difference then say, a DJ releasing a demo tape/cd done in pro
tools, getting booked and showing up without the skills to manage the
turntables.
