I've gone for Sharp ever since I bought a MD Player back in 1997, and more often than not I've been very happy with them. However my latest Sharp model, the MDMT-866, has a very short battery life, as do most MD recorders nowadays. It's a portable one and to be honest I hardly use it for recording anymore. I picked up a Technics MD recorder last year which is superb. It's modelled on an Onkyo model and the quality is excellent. (only £100 ($145))
