One bit of advice I can offer regarding MD recorders... If you are planning on going to MP3 from MD, expect a noticeable quality loss. The two stages of compression (which use similar algorithms) don't do so well together. If any rerecording takes place, try to keep it uncompressed. BTW, I have a Sony, but it's an older one. It exhibits odd behavior like ejecting the disk in the middle of the night when it's turned off, but besides that, it seems OK.
