'since *I* get bitched at for going off topic, how about we keep the DEMF
bitching to a minimum this year? I'm just glad we have a festival at all
that showcases detroit talent (and much undiscovered talent) to millions of
people instead of booking cheese acts for the main stage. this isn't the
area one tour kids.'

Couldn't agree more with this post. I for one will be at the festival. I knew
that even before the line up was announced. This will be my third year making
the trip from NYC and I plan to enjoy the festival and support some Detroit
businesses while I'm there. I'm sure as in years past I will meet plenty of
cool people and have a great time. I personally can't criticize the line up
because the festival is FREE. Considering what you sometimes pay for stuff here
in the city, free is a rare thing. Honestly I'm excited to see Mad Professor,
that's a bit of a surprise.

I'm sure there will be plenty of great afterparties as well. It's funny how I
hear a lot mentioned about the spirit of that first festival. I can attribute
it to the fact that I had no idea what to expect(as no one else did), which
made it really exciting. I didn't even know the line up till I got there. I can
even count last years hail storm as probably the most memorable moment (and
proof Carol is not god).

It is impossible to please everyone and had they scheduled every one of my
favorite artists, I think I would get bored. As I did last year, I'll break out
the highlighter and pick out the folks in the shcedule playing I'm not familar
or don't hear often. That way I won't have any expectations.
