What's in a name is that Anthony Child has been using "Surgeon" as a DJ and artist name for over 10 years now, and has released a lot of big-selling albums and numerous 12"s and remixes under that moniker. Using the same name is going to cause (intentional?) confusion for both promoters and party-goers. Why doesn't he just call himself Jeff Mills? ;-)
